Turkey, Serbia agree to open Islamic culture center in Belgrade

Turkey and Serbia have agreed to open a "Center for Islamic Culture" in Belgrade, said Turkish foreign ministry spokesman said.

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu is in the Serbian capital Belgrade to attend a tripartite consultation meeting of Turkey, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbia.

He met with Serb President Boris Tadic in a meeting closed to press, Anadolu Agency said.

Following the meeting, officials of the Turkish foreign ministry said that Davutoglu and Tadic discussed several projects carried out between the two countries, including a highway project in Serbia, infrastructure works in Sanjak region and a possible cooperation between Turkey's flag carrier Turkish Airlines (THY) and Serbia's national air carrier JAT Airways.

What you make of it BBS? Have the Serbs gone soft, nuts, wise, paid, etc?

Do you know how many Muslims live in Serbia?? They have more then we do thats for sure, the whole Sandzak region is full of them. In Belgrade there is only one Mosque and the Serbs burned it down in the riots.

My take is that the main reason is that the serbs are trying to clean up their negative image, as they ( well the Serbian government) are DESPERATELY trying to get into the EU. The current Serbian government is very pro Europe and American, which results in many Serbian hot heads to label the government as sell outs – which they are probably correct.

I also think this was done to try help improve Islamic ties with Serbia, and remember that the Sandak region of Serbia is more “muslim” then Serbian.
