    Albanian-Macedonian Federation?

They are all relatively small countries(Albania, Kosova and Macedonia), it would be in their benefit to join some sort of federation.

Population would be roughly 8 million, both Albanian and Macedonian would be the official languages. All three countries would be autonomous republics, power would be alternated every 4-5 years between Tirana, Prishtina and Skopje.

How many of you would like to see a Albanian-Macedonian federation?

None of us, Macedonia has earned the right to be free from all and Macedonian. How about Macedonia as a safe independent state, and the same for Albania?
In the name of the blood and the sun, the dagger and the gun, Christ protect this soldier, a lion and a Macedonian.

Not a bad idea, but we would automatically become a minority in our own country and the Albanians might use that as a pretext to take half of Macedonia.

Astrit, I would be horrified if Kosovo was allowed to be federalised given that it is still a fake country created out of agendas yet to be fully comprehended by most. To include Macedonia in part of your proposition is even more silly and would represent the demise of Europe as the USA and the EU go to war.

The Gora region of south east Kosovo was ceded from Macedonia, in 1967.

Mala Prespa and Podrec, was ceded from Macedonia in 1913.

I think Kosovo, should give the Gora region back to us, and Albania give back Mala Prespa.

We could have a Macedonian Federation, made up of the Republic of Macedonia, and these two other regions.

                You think so?

It just looks like Albanian nationalist move in an attempt to create a Greater-Albania muslem state.

Macedonians would be wise, not to fall in this game.

Population would be roughly 8 million,
And with Albanian people growing faster, it will be in no time Albanian mayority.

both Albanian and Macedonian would be the official languages.
Hard to believe that Macedonian language will be pretected in this greater Albania, and that the Christian church will be left alone.

All three countries would be autonomous republics, power would be alternated every 4-5 years between Tirana, Prishtina and Skopje.
Impossible, because both Albania and Kosovo have Albanian mayority.

                I hope none.

The way things are going if we don't increase our birth rate in Macedonia will be a minority since the Albanians are producing children like rabbits and I don't see the Diaspora moving back either.

Thorvald, orthodox and catholic Albanians have been living side by side with their muslim counterparts for centuries.

                    A muslim Albanian state?

The prime minister and president of Kosova, Thaqi and Sejdiu are both atheists. They were former communists in their younger days. The Socialist Party which is very anti-religion is dominating Kosova politics. The party even celebrated the 100th Anniversary of Enver Hoxha's birthday last October.

Albania proper does not have a muslim majority, christian/atheist/agnostic including no-religious Albanians make up the majority. Please spare me the 80 year old statistics of a 70% Islamic and 30% Christian Albania, it is very out dated. Not to mention that the president is an orthodox christian. People often underestimate the tremendous effect Enver Hoxha had on Albanians. An entire generation was raised without ever once entering a mosque or church.

Do you know there is a Christian party in Albania the DCP but no Islamic party?

Official religious statistics from the largest newspaper in Albania and carried out by Oxford University:

                    Muslims (Sunni, Bektashi) 38%
Christians (Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant etc.) 35%
                    Non-Believers (agnostics) and Non-declared 16%
Atheists (those who resist the existence of god) 11%

That being said, Albanians from Macedonia are the most religious of all Albanians. It's a phenomenon, while Albania seems to be getting more secular by the day the opposite seems to be happening to Albanians in Macedonia.

I am sure you would agree that a federation as described by yourself Astrit would be in favour of Albanians and therefore suits your nationalist ideals. It will always be rejected by Macedonians.

I agree with what you say about the secular nature of the Albanians in Albania. We seem to have militant zealot ethnic Albanians in Macedonia and Kosovo. In Macedonia, the influence on long standing ethnic Albanians of Macedonia has come from Kosovo. Which has gained confidence from the USA in its quest to disrupt Europe's future strategies in the Balkans.

Those regions now belong to the Albanians.

The Gora region of Kosovo, was ceded from Macedonia, recently, and could be returned, and I believe, that if the Albanian government was offered the right number of financial incentives, and political incentives, it would probably hand back the Mala Prespa region.

What could the Macedonians OFFER to Albania, and to Kosovo, to get these lands back?

No, this will not work. The Macedonian goverment have been nice and let over 100,000 Albanians move to Macedonian from Kosovo in the 90s. Then they rebel and ambush Macedonian soldiers. This will never work. Im sure all Macedonians would agree with me. Never will this happen, and never will any part of Macedonia become part of the "Great" Albania.

Ethnic Albanians have become Greeks. Ethnic Albanians (non-muslim) will become Macedonians over time. The fact that everyone in Macedonia must learn Macedonian in school is comforting in relation to this matter.

The federation will never happen. But I am convinced Albania proper can be a good friend to Macedonia one day.
