As for other nations; there were other nations involved, mainly the Bulgarians and the Serbs. The Bulgarians defeated the Turks, but so did the Greeks. Athens though had sent a telegram to the King who was leading the Army telling him to keep on marching and not stop and rest in the night because he knew the Bulgarians would try to lay claim to Thessaloniki.

The Bulgarians were taking their sweet time, while the Greeks were doing forced marches to take the city and beat the Bulgarians to it by a matter of hours. Tough luck for the Bulgarians...

Ottoman census' were not at all accurate and this is even according to the modern "greeks" of the time. Besides we all know about the Hellenized Vlachs strewn all over Macedonia. Yeah,,,real ethnic "greeks"

Thessaloniki was part of the Ottoman Empire before the Hellenes liberated it.
