When concerning the MPO, I'll admit that even though I live in the USA (New Jersey to be specific) I have not heard of them other than on the Maknews forum. I have heard they are pro-Bulgarian, and I have also heard that there are chapters that retain a full Macedonian consciousness.

Hearing that UMD will allow them to participate in the upcoming census committee, I can only ask, if the MPO is pro-Bulgarian, why would they support a declaration of Macedonian on a census? Wouldn't they advocate, Bulgaro-Macedonian or some similar variation?

The key phrase that comes to mind is keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. If UMD includes MPO in the census bureau they can limit the individual influence that Bugarashi may have on Macedonians to declare Bulgaro-Macedonian. It may also have a beneficial effect by introducing a positive Macedonian influence on the members of MPO to realize that they are in fact Macedonians and not Bulgarians.

I can only view claims of a pro-Bulgarian movement in the UMD as laughable. The statements, actions, views and movements that come out of UMD are clearly not associated with any sort of Bulgarian agenda.

The question is why is UMD forging close ties with the Bugaromen MPO? This is a ludicrous and stupid move in my opinion. Macedonian organizations and political groups don’t need spies or traitors, those types of people have already f_cked us over in the past.

Can anyone from UMD please explain their reasoning in getting close to crap like the MPO?

Dear Sir/Madame:

We are contacting you regarding an urgent matter concerning the human rights violations of Mr. Miroslav Rizinski, a citizen and resident of the Republic of Macedonia. This is an issue that has been a major concern of ours over the course of the past few months. Mr. Rizinski is the former Vice President of the Democratic Republican Union of Macedonia and was a candidate for MP at the last parliamentary elections in Macedonia.

On September 21, 2007, shortly after returning from the 86th Annual Macedonian Patriotic Organization Convention in Detroit, USA, Mr. Rizinski was arrested in Skopie, Macedonia under bribery allegations. While in the United States, Mr. Rizinski served as our special guest at the MPO Convention, and also made an application for an MPO Chapter in Skopie within our organization. Mr. Rizinksi has openly and publicly proclaimed his Macedono-Bulgarian heritage in the past, and we suspect that his arrest was aimed to discredit him in attempting to start the first MPO Chapter in Macedonia.

In the weeks leading up to his trial, it was with great shock and disappointment that we learned of Mr. Rizinski's continued incarceration since the day of his arrest. His bail was denied by the Macedonian court on account of his dual citizenship (Macedonian and Bulgarian), despite the fact that his family provided full financial guarantees for bail.

On November 26, 2007, following a short hearing, Mr. Rizinski was sentenced to three and half years in prison for allegedly taking a bribe in the amount of 6,000 Euro from a person with a criminal record, currently under investigation himself. According to his lawyer, Mr. Savo Kocarev, the case against Mr. Rizinski was a police set-up because of his ethnic and political beliefs as well as to derail the first MPO Chapter in Macedonia. Mr. Kocarev submitted a petition to the Appellate Court, and a request that Mr. Rizinski be granted bail until the appeal is heard by the higher court, which is in accordance with Macedonian law. He emphasized that Mr. Rizinski has no prior criminal record and that his dual citizenship cannot be used as justification for the denial of his bail.

We found this to be particularly disturbing, in light of the fact that Mr. Rizinski had been attacked and injured on January 13, 2007, during the annual memorial service for Mara Buneva in Skopie, by a large organized group of hooligans who were openly expressing ethnic hate towards Macedonian Bulgarians. The police failed to intervene or investigate this incident and most of the hooligans remain unidentified and unprosecuted to this date.

We strongly support the long overdue fight against corruption and organized crime in the Republic of Macedonia that the government is currently trying to implement; however, this should not be a pretext for the violation of human rights of individuals with dissenting opinions especially in a country that aspires to be part of the EU.

We also realize that the law should be the same for all citizens, and that according to the law, the courts are independent in the Republic of Macedonia. At the same time, we are aware of numerous issues within the judiciary system in the Republic of Macedonia that are regularly stressed in the reports of international organizations and human rights monitors as the main obstacles to the progress of democracy in the country. We remain concerned that under these circumstances, Mr. Rizinski was not granted a fair trial or appeal process, which is ongoing. Moreover, given the slow process of appeals, his continuing detention and denial of bail serves only to prevent him from preparing an adequate defense.

Preserving the human rights and freedoms of all the ethnic groups in Macedonia is as important as preserving its name. In the Republic of Macedonia, all people should be treated equally, regardless of their ethnic or religious affiliations, be they those who believe that they are decedents of Alexander the Great or be they Macedonians who take pride in their Bulgarian heritage, like our forefathers who fought in the Ilinden uprising against the tyranny of the Ottoman Empire for a truly free, independent and united Macedonia. Based on those principles MPO was founded in 1922 in the USA, one of the greatest democratic countries in the world.

It is in this spirit that we appeal to you to do everything in your power to enable Mr. Rizinski to defend himself while free and not in custody, like any other citizen of Macedonia should be treated - innocent until proven guilty. Mr. Rizinski's beliefs and his dual citizenship should not be viewed as an excuse for limiting his human and civil rights, particularly at this crucial juncture as Macedonia strives to join the European Union.

We sincerely appreciate your prompt action and an immediate follow-up on this urgent matter.

"Македонија 3.000 години била и е Грчка, како што впрочем било и останува да биде грчко населението што денес живее во северната грчка покраина Македонија". Вака приближно завршуваше Резолуцијата усвоена кон крајот на август 2002 од страна на Сенатот на Калифорнија, спонзорирана од силното грчко лоби во САД. И не само во Калифорнија, туку идентични резолуции беа усвоени уште во 13 сојузни држави. Во основата на целата оваа кампања лежи спорот за името "Македонија". Целта на Грците беше тројна: прво да се убеди американската политичка јавност дека единствено грчката северна покраина смее да го носи името Македонија; второ, дека меѓу тамошното население, освен Грци, не постојат припадници на други етнички малцинства, и трето, да се подобрат преговарачките позиции на Грција со тоа што владите во Скопје и во Вашингтон уште еднаш ќе бидат потсетени на моќта на грчкото лоби во Америка. Нашата дипломатија беше затечена, Македонците во Америка, како и јавноста тука, беа испровоцирани, и сў се сведуваше на поединечни пост фестум реакции. Изгледавме разочарани и немоќни.

Две години подоцна (јуни, 2004), по предлог на демократот господин Лу Кореа, калифорнискиот Сенат едногласно усвои друга Резолуција во која се употребува нашето уставно име и, меѓу другото, се вели: "Сенатот на Калифорнија го поддржува правото на Македонците што живеат на Балканот да го зборуваат нивниот јазик, да посетуваат училишта на нивниот јазик, да ги остваруваат нивните обичаи, да се нарекуваат себеси Македонци и да ги добијат сите граѓански и човечки права наложени според меѓународното право". Оваа Резолуција не само што ја анулира претходната антимакедонска резолуција, туку предизвика и аплаузи во Македонија, будејќи ја љубопитноста на јавноста за тоа кои се луѓето што успеале да излобираат конкретна подршка за правата на Македонците. Затоа, оваа колумна ја посветувам токму на активистите на Македонската патриотска организација, д-р Георгиев, г-ѓа Ваноф-Зајак и г-н Ацев, кои со упорност, со посветеност и со љубов кон татковината на нивните предци успеаја да направат едно големо дело за Македонија.

Д-р Георги Георгиев е втора генерација македонски Американец, роден 1931 год. Неговиот татко Иван Георгиев, роден 1900 година во Воден (Егејска Македонија), на 15-годишна возраст се разделува од своите и емигрира за Америка по Балканските војни, заедно со својот стрико. Таму покрај што работи, студира и музичко училиште (виолина) и се вработува во симфонискиот оркестар во Индианаполис. Тогаш ја запознава и својата идна сопруга, Пандора Мирчева Георгиева, ќерка на Коста Мирчев од Прилеп, доселен во Америка во 1912 година. Настрана од печалбарскиот живот, спомените за Македонија, за роднините во Прилеп и во Воден, за празниците и обичаите се секојдневје во семејството на Георгиеви. "Не ретко", си спомнува д-р Георгиев, "кога ќе ни дојдеа гости, татко ми ќе ја земеше виолината и ќе засвиреше стари народни песни од Воденско и Прилепско, кои сите заедно ги пеевме". Денес д-р Георгиев има своја стоматолошка ординација во Санта Ана (Калифорнија), каде што и живее со сопругата и трите деца.

Г-ѓа Александра Ваноф-Зајак има потекло од Егејска Македонија. Нејзините родители, Методија и Фима, се родени во с.Баница, Леринско (во 1926 со преименувано во Веви). Бидејќи сите оние што не се декларирале за Грци тешко наоѓале работа, Методија, во потрага по подобар живот емигрира за Америка во 1930, каде што отворил свој ресторан. По една година, му се придружува и сопругата со новородениот син Никола, а во Америка им се раѓаат уште четири деца, Борис, Венка, Нада и Александра. Далеку од родното место, животот на семејството Ваноф не бил лесен, но станал горчлив со лошите вести за граѓанската војна во Грција кога, бегајќи пред грчките владини трупи, многу нивни роднини од с.Баница се иселуваат во Канада, Австралија и Македонија. Таа драма низ која минуваат нивните родители најсилно ја доживува синот Никола. Подоцна, сега покојниот Ник(ола) Ваноф станува продуцент во Холивуд и го снима филмот "Елени" (1985) - филм во кој се опишува судбината на дете-бегалец и на неговата мајка, филм од кој насолзуваат очите. Грчките власти не дозволуваат сцени од филмот да се снимаат во Леринско, па тој е сниман во Шпанија, а во главната улога е Џон Малкович. Г-ѓа Ваноф-Зајак, има две ќерки и живее во Калифорнија, каде што со сопругот имаат свој бизнис за рекламни фотографии. Покрај тоа, таа е и член на Централниот комитет на МПО. Досега била еднаш во Баница и еднаш во Скопје за да си ги види своите роднини и за да ја види Македонија, земјата за која цело детство слушала од своите родители.

Предците на господин Јордан Ацев, кој денес има своја адвокатска канцеларија во Санта Ана, доаѓаат од Прилепско. По таткова линија во Америка прв се доселил прадедо му Лазо Ацев, кој го напуштил родното село Ореовец во 1904 година. Во Америка, во 1921 емигрирал и неговиот прадедо по мајчина линија, Глигор Јорданов (од прилепската фамилија Икономови). Како и неговите родители, така и Јордан Ацев пораснал во градот Стилтон (Пенсилванија), кој поинаку се вика и мал Прилеп, затоа што има многу прилепчани, затоа што црквата, како и прилипската стара црква, го носи името "Свето Благовештение" и затоа што за Водици, исто како и во Македонија, прилепчаните од Стилтон се фрлаат по крстот во студената река. "Моите родители и дедовци ме научија да се гордеам со нашите македонски обичаи и култура", со задоволство истакнува господин Ацев, кој се надева дека оваа есен прв пат ќе дојде во Прилеп каде што "МПО - Браќа Миладинови" од Калифорнија сака да донира една компјутерска лабораторија за градската гимназија. Женет е и има три деца.

МПО, чиј слоган од основањето до денес е "Македонија на Македонците", е најстарата организација на иселениците од Македонија. Формирана е во 1922 година во Форт Вејн (Индиана) од претставниците на околу 60.000 доселеници (меѓу кои и многу "Илинденци") кои во голем бран ја напуштаат Македонија помеѓу 1903 и 1906 и 1912 и 1915 година подради немаштијата и жестокостите на кои е подложено македонското население по задушувањето на востанието и по поделбата на Македонија. Денес МПО е една современа лоби-организација со разграноци низ цела Америка и Канада, предводена од третата генерација на македонски Американци. Тоа се луѓе кои можеби само еднаш ја посетиле Македонија, тоа се луѓе кои најчесто потекнуваат од Костурско, Воденско, Битолско, Леринско, Прилепско, Охридско, тоа се луѓе кои можеби знаат само неколку збора на македонски, но сепак, се што знаат, знаат за Македонија. За разлика од нивните прадедовци кои во Америка дошле со по три гроша во џебот и кои ги работеле најтешките физички работи, нивните потомци денес се угледни адвокати, лекари, инженери, бизнисмени или државни службеници. Нивниот живот и нивниот статус се разликува како ден од ноќ, од положбата во која биле нивните предци. Но, во едно сепак се исти - во љубовта кон Македонија и во желбата да и се помогне. Затоа МПО денес е најсилната македонска лоби-група во САД, која може да отвори врати на многу сенатори и конгресмени, и тоа треба да се искористи. Тоа што сме мала земја со мала дијаспора треба да биде само причина повеќе да бидеме единствени и да ги надминеме сите меѓусебни недоразбирања кога станува збор за интересите на Македонија.

Pretty sure the above books/literature will be mostly about ethnic "Bulgarians" of Macedonia but Macedonians as separate ethnic/national entity will not feature very much, if at all. That is how the the REAL MPO (and the Bugaromani in Mk) look like when the MASK is taken off! The likes of Antonio Miloshoski and Co. have identical agendas to MPO when it comes to Macedonia and Macedonians, to cut off the ethno-historic roots of Macedonians and substitute them with Turko-Mongol (Bulgar) ones!

Македонската патриотска организација му се придружи на грчкото лоби во САД во јавното оцрнување на Република Македонија пред самитот на НАТО.

Најстарата и една од најмоќните организации во САД, со предзнак македонска, испратила писмо до голем број влади, меѓународни институции и организации за човекови права, во кое тврди дека Македонија не ги почитува правата и слободите на своите граѓани.

Директен повод за писмото кое стигнало и до Белата Куќа е три и пол годишната казна затвор за поранешниот директор во Бирото за поддршка на неразвиени подрачја Мирослав Ризински, осуден за примање мито во вредност од 6.000 евра, кој според МПО е уапсен поради неговите пробугарски ставови.

Во писмото се вели, дека Ризински е уапсен по неговото враќање од конвенција на МПО во САД, каде отворено зборувал за бугарската историја на Македонија.

Според претседателот на организацијата Џорџ Лебамоф Ризински, кој на изборите во 2006 година беше кандидат за пратеник на партијата ДРУМ на Доста Димовска, е жртва на антибугарската кампања, која е насочена кон сите што зборуваат јавно за бугарскиот карактер на Македонија.

Според неговиот адвокат Саво Коцарев, случајот Ризински е полициска местенка поради неговата етничка припадност и обид да се спречи основање на претставништво на МПО во Македонија.

Во писмото на МПО нема ниту збор за неговото поставување за директор во државен служба и покрај тоа што политичките ставови на Ризински се добро познати во македонската јавност.

Тој беше еден од настраданите во тепачката на споменикот на Мара Бунева на кејот на Вардар во јануари 2006 година, кога беа нападнати и повредени неколку почитувачи на делото на Бунева.

In the quoted words of the UMD president Meto from some time earlier, he seems to have bought some simple Bugaroman lies hook, line and sinker. Perhaps the UMDaispora.org can give us an example of what Meto and the director were referring to in a more elaborated manner.

Why then is UMD as, "the leading Macedonian organization that represents the diaspora" (or words to that effect) seeking out an alliance with MPO?

I see a real danger of a fledgling organization such as UMD getting cosy with another group that is almost a century old, that has deep roots in American society and its various layers of administration and an often questionable ideology and direction.

We have seen many examples of how MPO operate already in this thread provided by 'indigen'...even MPO fence-sitters admit the Bulgar bias of the organization but have been grateful for MPO efforts in bringing together the Macedonian community in places like Toronto many decades ago.

MPO have been in this business for a long time, they've honed their skills over many decades, in the age old battle for hearts and finally minds...

UMD is an organization that seems to understand the value of good PR and has shown to be an astute marketer of its brand has shown a disturbing degree of naivete in its association with MPO.

I found it disturbing that Meto went from quite a virulent anti MPO/Bugaroman line to one espousing a very questionable Macedonian position and think that his association with MPO cadres was the cause.

IMO, Meto (and thus UMD, which I see as a one-man band and a cheering squad) has been nobbled or flipped by MPO or their sympathisers in the Mk Government and/or the diplomatic corps.

Reading the following gives me that impression:

Indigen, There is no such word as Bugaroman, only Bugarash or Bugarofil.

You must lead (have led) a politically sheltered life then because it is widely used by Macedonian political activists and Macedonian patriotic media (which has limited presence), e.g. "Makedonsko sonce". But I have never seen "Bugarash" used by any Macedonian media, online" or in print. Odrodeni (sellouts to their own nation) Makedonci/Macedonians fanatical (mani) to the cause of a another foreign, and working against the Macedonian, nation are historically represented by Grkomani, Srbomani and Bugaromani. The lexicon has been enriched in recent years and we have now added "Slavomani", "Yugomani", "Natomani", "Euromani", and may soon see "Albanomani".

Secondly, it is true that "bugarofil" is used by mainstream Mk media but it belies the true nature, for whatever ideological reasons, of what a bulgarophile (lover of all things bulgarian) and bulgaroman/tataroman (a Macedonian FANATICALLY denying Macedonian ethno-historic identity and and espousing a bulgar one.) represent.

At the following MTO topic thread quite a few examples of the use of the term Bugaroman/Bugaromani can be found: "Za Potsetuvanje - Razno"

An interesting read no doubt, i had no idea that Ljubco's party wanted to change our alphabet.

Again go to the above link and have a thorough read there and you will see what LjuBcho and his "golemata tajfa bugarofili" were up to prior to taking government power in late 1998 and afterwards. I particularly recommend "Raskolot vo VMRO-DPMNE" for in-depth reading and following (Google can be a good asset for this research) the characters mentioned there (and others ideologically closely linked to them) and seeing what positions they hold in today's Macedonian state/political structures, institutions and media outlets. Do this and you will find the Bugaromani firmly and widely entrenched in Macedonian political and state structures, institutions and media outlets. They are also very well represented in DPMNE (and no doubt in the Government and amongst the Ambassadors).

An interesting read no doubt, i had no idea that Ljubco's party wanted to change our alphabet. Its funny how that Bugarofil says how the communists brainwashed us when in Bulgaria during the 70' and 80s their citizens couldnt leave the country, our people could spend 100 marki there because it was so cheap it wasnt funny. While we could travel anywhere we wanted we went for weekends in Bulgaria, slept in the best hotels there for next to nothing and all of the sudden we are brainwashed by the communists. They couldnt even leave their country for starters, they never even been to Macedonia at that time.

We have seen many examples of how MPO operate already in this thread provided by 'indigen'...even MPO fence-sitters admit the Bulgar bias of the organization but have been grateful for MPO efforts in bringing together the Macedonian community in places like Toronto many decades ago.

MPO have been in this business for a long time, they've honed their skills over many decades, in the age old battle for hearts and finally minds...

UMD is an organization that seems to understand the value of good PR and has shown to be an astute marketer of its brand has shown a disturbing degree of naivete in its association with MPO.

I think the majority of the people in MPO are the type of people that will defend Macedonia on everything – if it doesn’t involve Bulgaria.

I have experience with these types of “Macedonians”, they will be angry towards the shiptars and offer to fight against them, they will be fighting for the rights of the Aegean Macedonians and fighting against the “greek” lies, and especially they will fight with serbs on the treatment the Macedonians suffered in the first yugoslaiva. They will wave Macedonian flags and invest in the country.

But ultimately they will be pushing for a pro-bulgarian agenda for Macedonia. It’s a weird scenario, these people are pretty much bugaroman but think they are actually patriotic Macedonians and are trying to help the republic and its people. Totally bizarre.

They are the modern day Ivan Mihailov’s. Cant trust them one bit.

They are obviously a rubbish organisation that could not by definition embrace the Macedonian Cause.
