    Mancevski: All artifacts are Macedonian

Greece has enough history, so it is unclear why the hysterical reaction when someone else wants to research, nurture, promote and be proud of its own, says Macedonian director Milco Mancevski regarding Greek accusations that his promotion clip "Macedonia - Timeless" uses artifacts belonging to Greece.

The reaction from producers house "Senki Film" reads that all artifacts seen in the clip were excavated in the Republic of Macedonia, being a testimony of civilizations in this area for thousands of years.

"The clip is the crown of a long-standing research and arduous work. A precise map of the Republic of Macedonia has been made, presenting the places where the artifacts were excavated, along with photos and description of the sites. In order to avoid any misunderstandings, the maps are available at the official website www.macedonia-timeless.com. These facts were presented to the Macedonian and foreign public during the clip's promotion two months ago. Therefore, it is unclear whether the Greek accusations come as a result of misinformation or tendentiousness", underlines "Senki Film". //02.16.09 MiNa

Manchevski Claims Every Archaeology Find in Video is from Macedonia, Not Greece

16 February 2009 | Director Milcho Manchevski dismissed Greek accusations that some of the archaeological finds featured in the latest promotional video of Macedonia were from Greece.

Greece has enough of its own history and it is not clear why it is reacting hysterically when somebody else wants to investigate, support, present and be proud of his own history, prominent Macedonian director Milcho Manchevski, who made the controversial advertising video, told the A1 television today.

His statement came in reaction to Greek protests over the advertisements’ perceived theft of Greek cultural identity and its use of Greek symbols and archaeological finds, which BalkanTravellers.com reported on in January.

Senka Film, which produced the video, also dismissed the accusations, saying that every find featured in it was discovered in the Republic of Macedonia.

The one-minute clip, aimed at promoting awareness of tourism opportunities in Macedonia, premiered on CNN and other international television stations on Christmas Day of 2008. It cost the government 190,000 euro to make and “untold millions more for broadcasting between [December 2008] and April,” as BalkanTravellers.com blogger Christopher Deliso wrote.

It raised controversy not only with Greece and the international Greek communities, but also faced some domestic criticism as well. As Deliso wrote, some regarded technical faults, while others were aimed at its content. Albanians, for example, complained that there was no image of a mosque in the video, while others noted the clip’s uncanny resemblance in theme to an earlier video created by the Republic of Georgia, to which Manchevski responded by saying he had not seen it.

IŽam about the childish behaviour from grease...I wonder how long the international institution will play this chauvinistic dirty game of pandora and co.
it is more than laughable by this time
    1) Macedonians belong to the "older" Mediterranean substratum...
    2) Macedonians are not related with geographically close Greeks, who do not belong to the "older" Mediterranenan substratum...
