    Massive Fuel shortages in Greece

Due to the strike in Greece over 1000 Fuel Stations are without fuel and gas and tourists have no way of getting out of the country. MNR is advising everybody to fill up in Macedonia before going to Greece on holidays, on Kanal 5 they are saying that there is a massive colony from Lerin to Bitola the Greek Citizens are going to Macedonia to fill up their Vehicles. Its back to the 1980's all over again, the situation in Greece is going from bad to worse.

    Video Footage below:

Ha ha, I think certain stickers should be placed on cars before they are eligible for fuel.

Absolutely! Something like this will suffice:
      "Macedonians welcome you to Macedonia"
And put it on every single car that enters Macedonia, as a gesture of good will

My first thoughts were to send them back the other way when the reach the Macedonian border, then i thought let them spend there money in Macedonia.
Indeed the situation in Greece is getting worse.

One must seriously wonder what sort of state this is, as soon as the modern era caught up with a Greece that is still in a 19th century mindset, the cracks in the wall began to appear, and they are still spreading. And amazingly, it wasn't the Macedonians, or the Turks, or even the Albanians that did this to an ever-paranoid Greece, it was the Greeks themselves!

          Long live Macedonia.

SOM, The Northern Greek region has given a stern warning to the authorities in Athens if they dont supply them with fuel and gas they will be forced to go north of the border into Macedonia. I think MakPetrol,MakOil and even Russian Lukoil will make a fortune out of all this. Keep in mind that the Greek Authorities have put a 200 liter cap limit on trucks and other transporters to go inside Greek Territory.

I really do feel for the people in Greece, they are going through hell at the moment.

Guys what is the price of gas in Macedonia? Does one need to have a passport and visa to enter from Greece? I'd be glad to inform friends and relatives to go and fill up their cars there!!
              Macedonian and proud!

Which people exactly, do you feel for?

I feel only for the people that would extend us the same courtesy, I doubt they constitute 10% of the population in Greece.

JohnMKD, Greek Citizens can enter Macedonia with their ID cards, no visa requirements not only for Greek Citizens but for all EU citizens and members of the Schengen zone that are not in the EU like Norway and Switzerland.

This is for a stay for up to 90 days, if they stay for more then 3 days somebody from Macedonia, their host or a hotel worker must register them in a Police Station for which they will get a Card and will use it for further identification. Thats an old law that dates back to Former Yugoslavia so im sure it wont be around for much longer.

As for Fuel prices they are between the late 60 to mid 70 denars per liter, LPG is around 45 denars a liter. 1 Euro = 61.5 denars

Considering the fact that Fuel costs 1.5 Euros a liter in Greece thats much dearer when you have to fill up a truck or a bus with a 400 liter tank. Alcohol and Cigarettes is also alot cheaper in Macedonia, infact the difference is massive.

Here are the prices from MakPetrol, there is also a map there of all the Service Stations available in Macedonia.

SOM, Keep in mind that we have a large minority in Egejska Makedonija and its a terrible feeling to not be able to fill your car up with Petrol and be able to travel around in the middle of summer with scorching temperatures of up to 45 degrees. Its a freedom of movement breach and its also bad for the tourists there.

We should shut the borders now and show them an embargo. A bit of their own medicine

Jankovska, no need to think like a Greek. Instead you need to think smart!!
Just think of the income Macedonia could get from all desperate Greeks crossing the border for petrol. Imagine that almost all of them will also think: "why don't I make some shopping as well, since I'm here?"

I don't think we will make soo much money out of this therefore I think it's better to show them we can play hard ball. That's just my opinion. Money is not everything and at the moment we are better off than them. So fuck them.

Bravo Jankovska you are the only one realising its never been a fair fight with the Greeks so sinking in the boot when they are down is not anything to feel bad about unlike the local emo who feels for everyone.

The Greeks are not going to suffer and maybe god willing fall apart with everyone supporting them at every moment. The petrol alone will not make them fall apart but every bit helps and no bit of suffering should be tapered. Even if they scrape through their economic crisis make them suffer as much as possible.

Some of you people have such short memories. Do you not remember the embargo against Macedonia. Can you remember any Greeks coming to Macedonia’s aid. Do you remember prices being low just after the embargo and cashed up Greeks buying a thing or two…oh did I say buying I meant investing. It sounds so much nicer and wont upset the sensibilities of some on this forum.

Ruso you have better balls than some or maybe a better memory.
