Our boys are on a good way to get through to the top 8 teams in Europe,after today's win against Belarus champions Dinamo in Minsk 23-26 (12-14) in the first Last 16 game.The rematch will take place next Saturday in the sold-out "Boris Trajkovski" arena in Skopje.

Metalurg is among the best 8 handball clubs in Europe after once again beating Dinamo Minsk in Skopje 24-22.The draw for the quarterfinals will be held on Tuesday.Well done lads.
And here's what Metalurg's coach,the Croat Lino Cervar had to say in the press conference after the game,his words say everything about the magnitude of this achievement :
Горд сум што сум на чело на оваа екипа, на овој мал клуб од крајот на градот од една мала населба Автокоманда. Работиме во една сала што е градена од дрво и камен, среќа имаме греење бидејќи сме поврзани на градското парно. На патувањата ги избираме најевтините варијанти, често пати спиеме по аеродроми со сендвичи во рацете. Ние немаме многу пари, но сме во друштво со екипи како што Барселона, Кил, Хамбург, кои имаат десет пати поголем буџет од нас. Но. ние докажавме дека и малите можат да стигнат до голем резултат. Hopefully it can get even better - the draw was held and our opponents in the quarterfinals are the Polish champions Vive Targi Kielce,a team we faced in the group phase twice and realistically are the only team we can beat (the other 3 possible opponents were Barcelona,HSV Hamburg and Veszprem,teams that dominate the Champions league in the last decade).Even though we lost twice to Kielce in our group,both times we were unlucky (the first time we lost only by 2 goals,and in the return game we practically gave them the win when with the result tied our boys missed the last attack and the Poles scored the winning goal in the counterattack in the final seconds),and Kielce lost their first Last 16 game to a 4th placed team,which shows how vulnerable they can be even when they play against a much weaker opponent.Also a good thing can be the injury of their best player who had to go through a shoulder surgery a couple of weeks ago.Prognosis are that he might be able to play against Metalurg,but really he couldn't play at his best after an injury like that and with a month or two without training.First leg is on April 21st in Skopje and the return game will take place a week later in Poland.Best of luck to our boys,true champions.Originally posted by United MKD View Post

Bad news for Metalurg,one of it's cornerstones Filip Mirkulovski got injured in yesterday's game that our national team played against world champions Spain and will be out for 2-3 weeks.This will be a major handicap for Metalurg,the first game against Kielce is on April 21st.Best wishes for Filip and keep our fingers crossed for a faster return on the court,we'll need everything we have to reach the Final Four tournament in Cologne.
