SOM, it is only a small minority that believes Alexander and by extension Ancient Macedonians were not Greeks. I dont think the examples cited above can compare in this case. A more comparable example would be Bulgarians telling you the same about Goce Delchev.

The statue wont go up before the ICJ ruling thats for sure. Currently its on hold.

          Voltron,

Phillip, Alexander and the ancient Macedonians invaded and conquered the Hellenic city-states. Only a small minority of ancient Hellenes perceived the matter otherwise. The revised version of events used by Greeks like yourself today doesn't change those facts. But, by all means, erect Phillip and Alexander statues up in Athens, Corinth and Thebes, just for good historical measure.
In the name of the blood and the sun, the dagger and the gun, Christ protect this soldier, a lion and a Macedonian.

What would the statue of "Alexander the Great" (note that it is NOT called Aleksandar Makedonski - Alexander III of Macedon), if it ever gets put up in the first place, really represent in light of the political deconstruction agendas displayed and evidenced by these two events below (amongst many other anti-Macedonian deconstruction schemes, projects and agendas in operation or in the making)?

And, BY IMPLICATION, THEY HAVE DONE THE SAME FOR THE MACEDONIAN HISTORICAL NATIONAL IDENTITY (ETHONGENISIS)!!! This a TREASONOUS ACT OF THE HIGHEST ORDER and should have caused OUTRAGE amongst right-thinking Macedonians and their organizations but we are witness to utter silence.

This law was brought in 2008 just before the NATO summit in Bucurest by the Government of VMRO-DPMNE practically proscribing the usage of the Kutlesh symbol.

Indigen, please dont steer of in another direction, many people including myself are very exited about the statue, lets leave this thread for updates.

Btw, the Airport is Aleksandar Veliki, not the statue, unless you have evidence for this and are not just making an assumption based on the airport name

I think it is relevant info to take into SERIOUS consideration and the statue is also said to be named "Aleksandar Veliki" in interviews given by Miloshoski and Gruevski. The post/s should be found here on MTO, most likely in the Gruevski topic thread.

Actually its not relevant whatsoever to the statue (btw the attendance of a Macedonian official with a bulgar in the referred instance is beyond disturbing but has nothing to do with the statue)

The erection of the statue has begun!!
