Ohrid, July 7 (MIA) - Completion of the second round of voting within the global selection of new seven wonders of nature ends today, and two nominations from Macedonia - the Ohrid Lake and Vrelo Cave - have solid chance to go further.
At the moment, the Ohrid Lake and Vrelo Cave are holding the 6th, 13th place respectively in their categories, hence they have a solid chance to enter the final, Zoran Tuntev, representative of the Committee for Nomination of the Ohrid Lake and Vrelo Cave, said Sunday at a press conference.
He once again called on citizens to vote on www.new7wonders.com.
Entering the final will be a great opportunity for presenting the Ohrid Lake and its beauties worldwide, Tuntev said.
It makes a lot of fuss and brings many tourists, he added.
A so-called 'New 7 Wonders Tour' will be organized for all finalists of the second phase, Tuntev said, pointing out that powerful media networks, such as the CNN, news agencies Reuters and AP, will be included in the project.
On July 7 midnight dateline all voting will be on hold, as the results of the second phase are calculated and verified. The top 77 nominees will be shown on the contest's website on 9 July, from which the New7Wonders of Nature Panel of Experts will advise on the choice of the 28 official finalists, to be announced on 21 July 2009 - the day that voting resumes in the Official New7Wonders of Nature, as chosen by over 1 billion votes and to be revealed in 2011.
