Macedonian Minister of Culture Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska and Turkish counterpart Ertugrul Gunay are scheduled to sign Wednesday a culture cooperation program for period 2009-2011.
The program focuses on intensifying cooperation in diverse segments of culture and art, reciprocal promotion of the two cultures, as well as opening of cultural-information centers in Istanbul and Skopje.
The Macedonian delegation, which pays April 21-22 a visit to Turkey, also includes director of the Cultural Heritage Protection Office, Pasko Kuzman, who is to meet with representatives from Turkish counterpart institutions.
Turkey is interested in protecting culture monuments from the Ottoman period in Macedonia, whereas several projects within the 2005 Memorandum for conservation and restoration of certain monuments have been completed.
There is also active cooperation in the field of music-stage art, participation at cultural events in both countries, as well as performances of folklore ensembles. Moreover, Macedonia is represented at the Istanbul Book Fair, including Macedonian authors from the Turkish ethnic community.
