    Macedonian Icons Exhibited in Holland

An exhibition titled "Outstanding Beauty - Icons of Macedonia", showcasing part of Macedonia's cultural heritage, will open in the Catharijneconvent Museum in Utrecht, the Netherlands on Tuesday.

Minister of Culture Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska is expected to open the exhibition.

Items from the most significant collections of icons from Macedonia will be displayed at the exhibit - the most elaborate presentation of Macedonia's rich cultural heritage abroad - both for its values and its scope. The exhibit is going to be enriched with archaeological artifacts from prehistory and antiquity. Some of these artifacts are being transported and displayed outside Macedonia for the first time, the Ministry of Culture informs.

62 archaeological artifacts, six samples of original Middle Ages fragments, 52 icons and 39 liturgy items, the Great Mother Goddess - Magna Mater from the period of early Neolith as well as the exceptional figurine of Adam of Govrlevo (4th millennium BC) and the Gold Mask excavated at the Samuil Fortress in Ohrid are some of the items included in the exhibition.

Ethno-band "Synthesis" and guitarist Vlatko Stefanovski will perform at the display opening.
