Exhibition on Macedonians’ Participation in WWII and Greece’s Civil War

26 January 2010 | “Unburied Memories,” an exhibition of photographs and documents of the participation of Macedonians from the Aegean part of Macedonia in the Second World War and the Greek Civil War is on display until February 28 at the Museum of Macedonia.

Intended to mark the 60th anniversary of the end of the Civil War in Greece, the exhibition, on 35 boards, is aimed at presenting the historical continuity of the Macedonians in the Aegean part of Macedonia and their founding of the military and political formation in the Second World War between 1941 and 1945 and the Civil War in Greece between 1946 and 1949, with a platform for joint struggle of the Macedonian and Greek people in the Civil War of Greece in 1949 for their national and social liberation, according to Museum’s official information.

A catalogue in Macedonian and English has been printed in 1,000 copies, intended to be sent to the European Parliament and to other international institutions for human rights protection, according to the culture.in.mk website.

In addition to photos and documents on military actions, other items in the exhibition include advertising materials, newspapers, brochures and magazines that aimed at spreading the Macedonian language and ethnological displays, clothes and objects.

The focal point of the exhibition is the exodus of over 20,000 Macedonian and Greek children and the humanitarian campaign to save and accommodate the children in Macedonia, former Yugoslavia and in Eastern European countries.

    2) Macedonians are not related with geographically close Greeks, who do not belong to the "older" Mediterranenan substratum...

I have seen the figure 50000 mentioned at times. Were there any real statistics on how many Macedonian children that left the Aegean for the Eastern block?

i was not sure if i will answer here, because i am getting mad / angry eachtime i think / speak / write about it (about the refugee children, or as we say: Decata Begalci)

The "Greeks", to have "cover" for their crime, and to be sure that the sons/grandsons of those killed by the monarcho-fascist troops of Athen will not come one day to ask for their land / property, or simply to revenge themself, made up the story that the "bad communist kidnaping greek children"

in their sick satanic mind, exactly those children who survived the terror of the "greek" soldiers and bands, and the bombing with Napalm, were presented as greek children kidnaped by the Macedonians

i dont think that our brothers and sisters will ever find justice on the european courts, but i hope that God will have that in mind one day...

and sure, we will never Forget that... (i dont want to start some philosophical debates here can we forgive them, but i am sure we will NEVER forget that...)

              edit:

              i have some numbers like 35 - 40 000 CHILDREN

the adults are not counted in those ~40 000

I don't think we will ever know the true number.

The Greeks just can't be trusted to tell the truth - thats the crux of it.

My thoughts go to how many Macedonians have been driven out every time there has been a war on their territory. If say 35,000 Macedonians fled Greek terror during the "civial war" how many Macedonians fled 1903, 1913, WWI, WWII ...etc.
