    Onur, Yes Apricot we say Kajsija its the same word and yes Chakmak is a lighter. Even Airlija is a Turkish word, Bujrum for example then you have Saraj,Sef etc

    Spartan, They are all Turkish words, we been ruled by the Ottoman and the Roman Empires for over 1000 years so we use alot of these words. We inherited the foods too which is a bonus lol

    Did you mean "gaslighter"?? It`s "cakmak" in Turkish.
    I already knew that you use "Komsu and Meze" but did you mean "apricot"??? its "Kayisi" in Turkish...

    Turkish etymology dictionary on web says;
    "Cay" is derived from Chinese originated word like the plant itself, recorded at 17th century in Turkish books.
    "Kofte" is derived from Persian means minced, crushed, recorded at 13th century in Turkish books.
    "Meze" is Turkish means appetizer, recorded in 11th century in Turkish.


    So, the first two are not Turkish words but obviously all Balkan people borrowed these words from the Turks.

    Just like Kolbas and Kobasica its different in the cities around Stari Kraj. In the Skopje,Tetovo,Kumanovo regions we say Kjufte in other areas they say Kjofte its the same thing.

    Yeah Iskender is one of best. My favorite I wonder if they can make Iskender doner in Macedonia as good as in Turkey.
    Onur, The Iskender is very good but in Turkey it would be better i think. The restaurant is owned by a Turkish Macedonian, i've never had an Iskender in Turkey before but ive heard they are very good there, well prepared too.

    Btw, your tulumbi in the picture, is exact same size and shape like in Turkey. Looks like we never changed its form and look for at least 100 years
    You can get them in all sizes, in Apche they have long ones as big as a dish, they even have Shampita too.
