Up to 350,000 ethnic Macedonians in Albania ?

According to the leaders of Macedonian organizations in Albania, there are 120,000 Macedonians registered to Macedonian cultural associations and organizations in Albania.

They say that the number of Macedonians in Albania could be as high as 350,000.

I wanted to here peoples thoughts and ideas on these numbers, and perhaps what full recognition for Macedonians in Albanian means for the geopolitics in the region.

Maybe not such a bad idea.

If the number of Macedonians in Albania is as high as they say it is then there are things the Macedonian government can do.

Someone once said where are all the Macedonians going to come from. Answer: Albania !

Presumably most of these ethnic Macedonians are outside the Mala Prespa region.

The Macedonian government can invite ethnic Macedonians in Albania to return to the Macedonian republic.

It can do this while keeping the Macedonian character of people in the Mala Prespa region.

Probebly yes,but there are no documents. All minorities are fighting for new national census, where ethnicety will be expresed,in whole history of Albania there has newer been a national census where peoples could express their national identety.Gowermant allways set an aproximetly number and it is allwey 2%.

I was half joking about it Sarafot.
The last thing i would want is to remove Macedonians from traditional territories.

                Dobrodojde.

I've never been to Mala Prespa but if I was ever going to return to Macedonia - it would be somewhere around there.

I love the Macedonians in Albania - they above all else have preserved their ancient customs and traditions.

They should never leave. But, with possibly hundreds of thousands of native Macedonians in Albania, the Macedonian government can offer some of them a new life in the Macedonian Republic just to strengthen the republic.

All this talk about a ethnic or national census in Albania really interests me. I feel very strongly about the Macedonians in Mala Prespa and the Gorani in Kosovo.

I would love to know how many people consider themselves to be ethnic Macedonians in Albania ?

                    Welcome aboard.

Vlachs calling for langauge rights in Albania ..

                      Vlachs want official language rights.

This is a pretty big thing.

Any move for greater minority rights by anyone in Albania should help the Macedonian cause there.

I love the Vlachs (most of them). They've been driven out of their native homeland (Albania), scattered and gradually disappeared, so seeing this puts me in a good mood.

Those figures are very possible. I sold one of our locations to an Albanian couple who claim to be Greek. Both Speak Greek fluently and the wife also speaks Macedonian. Greeks claim 300,000 Greek in Albania a portion of these could very well be Macedonian.

Macedonia and the Macedonians in the Balkans are the champions of the pursuit for minority rights. It is the troubles our people have went through that now encourage others in the region to fight for their rights when they never have in the past, and all of this is due to the Macedonians fighting for their rights in Greece, Bulgaria, Albania and Serbia, and recognizing all of its people whichever way they declare within the Republic of Macedonia.

I applaud the Vlachs, they have everything a minority asks for and deserves in Macedonia, they are a recognized people, the same should apply in Albania, and then Greece. The people are beginning to awaken.
In the name of the blood and the sun, the dagger and the gun, Christ protect this soldier, a lion and a Macedonian.

As I mentioned earlier I have relatives still living in Albania.
some of them are in Pogradec, Korche, Drach, Tirana and Valona.

Macedonia is far more greater than the usually maps of Normal size Macedonia (vardar.+egej+pirin).

Drach was the last city in which Tsar Samoil halted at least before his fall down.

don"t forget that Skenderbeg (Gheghi alabnian) was a Macedonian, too. Gjerg Kastrioti (Tosk-Albanian) or as we say in Macedonian "Georgi Kastriot".

The world belongs to Macedonia. Macedonia does not belong to the world, especially not to Macedonia's neighbouring countries.
