They were Greeks in the sense of the meaning of the word at the time. At the time "Greek" meant an Orthodox Christian so a large amount of them probably were but ethnically they were Macedonian.

I know of two tragic histories in the world- that of Ireland, and that of Macedonia. Both of them have been deprived and tormented.
