I'm interested to know how and where Makedonia and Makedonija derived from. Is there no 'J' in Makedonia as a result of previous alphabets or something? Egejci are usually the only ones who use Makedonia however greeks use this spelling for their claims over the name aswell.
Could this be a result of no J letter or sound in the greek alphabet? When my family's surname was forcibly changed there was no greek letter to replace the J, therefore a combination was made for a similar sound. I'm only guessing here, i'm not aware of the true reasoning.
Sometimes when people see my name 'Makedonia' on playstation and such they will make assumptions that i am greek until i tell them otherwise, however with 'Makedonija' they will usually begin their attacks instantly since this spelling is used in the republic.
In English i usually spell it as Makedonia, although in Macedonian i will write it as Македонија.
