![]() Generally speaking, history is politics.
When Ranke first proposed that what makes good history is objective history, who was to know that the idea that history can be objective, would be hijacked by just about everyone pushing their own agenda, swearing that they had the real truth. We have seen what New Greek "truth" has done to us. You have your own agenda from what I have gathered - which is good to see. Some fresh perspectives are sorely needed. I'm not saying that historians can't be objective - they can, but only the best of them are. We've got alot of cleaning up to do in this area. Too many nationalist ideas, dictating how history should be written. But challenging ideas are not enough. It is not what you write, it is how you write it - method is not everything, but it is nearly everything; there are rules that must be followed, but few ever do. |

![]() Dimko, I agree with Aleksejevich that Greece steals Macedonian history, there is no doubt about that, but until I see some external evidence to support Iljov, Tomev and co. I cannot just agree with something of this magnitude. If they are right, then let them push it in a broader sense, to the international arena, get their opinion on why it is or isnt correct. I don't see the logic of using it as evidence if it hasn't yet been established as accurate.
What exactly is the French guy supporting where it concerns Margerita, and what does he say?

There are questions over his more recent finds, but I don't doubt their authenticity. I think its up to Vasil to bring in some outsiders to look at what he has, and send the stuff away to laboratories for authentication...etc. |

I would like to use this thread to analyse the studies of Vasil Iljov and the rock inscriptions found in Macedonia that he has presented. Admittedly, the 'Trp Ruen' story sounds fanciful, but there are some finds that have actual inscriptions that couldn't possibly be mere scratches. Pelister and Dimko, you guys have often commented on Iljov's works, can you post some reference material and any thoughts?

![]() ![]() The immediate problem I see is that these items are not elaborated on, and no further information is given as to where exactly they were located and if they have been cross-referenced by anybody other than Iljov. Furthermore, the information regarding 'Trp Ruen' seems to come exclusively from Iljov, even in the below link: http://issuu.com/petro_invictus/docs..._of_macedon/45 ![]() Where else is there information concerning this character from the year 567AD? How has Iljov deciphered the text?
