The quest for 'independence' by our southern neighbours was largely carried out by Albanians, Philhellenes and the Great Powers, all for different reasons; the first for rebellion against Ottoman oppression, the second for a dream conjured during the study of ancient texts, and the third for strategical advantage in the Mediterrainean.

Nobody, not neighbours, Great Powers, nobody, just Macedonians, fought (gloriously) during the Ilinden Uprising. The absence of help from anybody demonstrates the lack of will and the indiference of the Great Powers, and the selfish time-biding greed of our neighbours. Macedonians can be found during the liberation struggles of Serbia, Greece and Bulgaria, the latter became cowards that displayed their claws in the end.

Is Zmejkovski still behind the traditional Skopje to Krusevo Ilinden march?

Let's not forget that a whole bunch of greeks are living in UK especially in London.
I think they'll be neutral or call us slavic-macedonian.
That's what all foreign TV station do us call.

Two days ago I saw a documentary by ORF (Austrian television). the documentary took 1h. 50min was only spoken about the albanians. 10 minutes about us and they called us Slavomazedonier. (slavic macedonian)

The world belongs to Macedonia. Macedonia does not belong to the world, especially not to Macedonia's neighbouring countries.

So what is they do. I have seen many programs and many newspaper articles where they have called us Macedonians. When Macedonia played football against England all newspapers and tv programs called us Macedonian, yes the odd one will use FYROM but that is as far as it went. So I don't think they will come to our country to record our celebrations so they can go and call us Slavs.

            2 more days to go.

Macedonians across the world should remember, acknowledge, respect and glorify the events that took place 106 years ago. Ilinden is the day of the Macedonian. Take pride in our ancestors, these brave souls that fought for a free Macedonia, who spilled their blood so our people can have the right that all others enjoy. Victory wasn't achieved, although it could have, but the event should serve as an example of when the Macedonians united in common against the oppressors of the day.

Skopje, August 2 (MIA) - Macedonia marks Sunday the two historic Ilindens - 106 years from the Ilinden Uprising and 65 years from the first Anti-Fascist Assembly for People's Liberation of Macedonia (ASNOM).

The Meckin Kamen ceremonies began with laying of flowers at the Krusevo Republic monument by President Gjorge Ivanov, delegations from the Government, Parliament, former Presidents Kiro Gligorov and Branko Crvenkovski, Macedonian Army, political parties, diplomatic corps, as well as representatives from municipalities, NGOs and civic associations.

"Today we bow before the ancestors of the two Ilindens. We bow before all known and unknown heroes from all historic periods of our nation. We are gathered here to glorify and celebrate the higher ideals of our nation, created during the long-standing struggle for freedom and democracy throughout Macedonia's history", said President Ivanov in his address.

He added that ideas of the Krusevo Manifesto on equality and rights of all, regardless of their ethnic, religious, gender or political affiliation have preserved Macedonia's unity even in the most difficult times.

"These ideas have created the democratic ASNOM Macedonia in the joint struggle with democratic peoples during World War II. The Macedonian state is created and based on the ideals and values of democracy and human rights. Macedonians have chosen to respect and recognize all, at the same time never renouncing from their own identity and self-determination", stated President Ivanov.

Based on this clear and institutionalized will and democratic awareness, the Macedonian citizens declared sovereign Republic of Macedonia in 1991, whereas the country has been built throughout these 18 years on the European principles of free market, rule of law, equal opportunities for citizens and their active participation in all levels of decision-making.

"Macedonia has grown into a regional model and European democracy in the heart of the Balkans by strengthening its institutions and transforming its heritage of tolerance and coexistence of diverse ethnic and religious groups into the most contemporary and democratic legislation", stressed Ivanov.

According to him, this has been recognized by Macedonia's partners and allies throughout the globe.

"We can hold our heads high before the Pantheon of our ancestors. All Macedonian generations have done a lot. Our generation is not lagging behind. Prosperous future is ahead for our people. We have to cope with the challenges of overcoming historic Balkan misunderstandings. We have to reach the standard of European societies. However, hard work lies ahead, uniting Macedonian citizens around the building of a modern and prosperous society based on European competitiveness, top-class standards, effective institutions, quality education and science, technological development and innovation. The Macedonian free and creative spirit, which springs from this place, should embrace and conquer the world. This depends on us only", underlined President Gjorge Ivanov in the address at Meckin Kamen.

Kumanovo, August 2 (MIA) – Today we celebrate the two Ilindens. The 1903 one of Goce Delcev, Nikola Karev, Gjorce Petrov, Pitu Guli, and the 1944 one of Cento, Racin, Brasnarov, Kuzman. If the first Ilinden was the expression of Macedonian disobedience, the second was victorious, said Parliament Speaker Trajko Veljanoski at Sunday's observance of the 65th anniversary from the first Anti-Fascist Assembly for People's Liberation of Macedonia (ASNOM) in memorial center Pelince.

He added these are the two dates that laid the foundations of the Macedonian state, realizing the dream of many generations, ending on September 8, 1991 when independent, sovereign Republic of Macedonia was established, a legitimate international subject and UN member.

"These are times when we proudly remember our ancestors and all those who engraved their lives in the Macedonia of today. These are moments when we go back into the past, but with a view towards the future, along with the feeling of responsibility not to fail their ideals", stressed Speaker Veljanoski.

According to him, today's challenges are different from the ones of the two Ilindens.

"We do not need guns, but commitment to work, responsibility, knowledge and most importantly, unity. This is of utmost significance when referring to our strategic objective – Euro-Atlantic integration", stated Veljanoski.

He reminded that Macedonia has met all NATO membership criteria, whereas the invitation did not materialize due to the absurd dispute over the country's constitutional name imposed by the southern neighbor.

Speaker Veljanoski emphasized that the row settlement should not touch upon the national, cultural and lingual identity of the Macedonian people, voicing belief on the unity among all political parties, as well as the public, regardless of the ethnic or religious belonging.

"No Government or Parliament has the mandate to negotiate on Macedonia's national identity. This would represent treason of the first and second Ilindens, but also of our children and future generations, because we do not have other fatherland than Macedonia, we have only one mother tongue, the Macedonian", said the Parliament Speaker.

Veljanoski also referred to the visa liberalization, but also the belief that Macedonia would obtain a date for beginning of EU accession talks by the year-end. Moreover, he said that Macedonia is currently faced with one of the biggest challenges - the global economic crisis.

Pertaining to the Parliament's work, Speaker Veljanoski stated that hundreds of laws for approximation of the Macedonian legislation with the EU Acquis have been adopted in the past 18 years.

"We are doing this in order to strengthen parliamentary democracy, but since we assume the MP seats as a result of your votes, this means strengthening of the citizen's role and articulation of his/her interests and problems", he added.

Veljanoski sent a call from Pelince to all Macedonian citizens to continue to build Macedonia as a successful, eternal story where democracy, human rights and well- being would be something to develop and upgrade.

"If the Krusevo Manifesto ends with the call for Hurray to autonomous Macedonia, if Macedonia is defined in the ASNOM Manifesto as a sovereign subject of federal Yugoslavia, allow me to salute from this spot the European Macedonia", underlined Parliament Speaker Trajko Veljanoski at the ceremony marking the 65th ASNOM anniversary in Pelince.

Delegations from the Parliament, Government, President's Cabinet, Macedonian Army, diplomatic corps, municipalities, political parties and civic associations laid flowers at the ASNOM memorial center in Pelince.

Earlier, a state delegation led by Speaker Veljanoski, paid a visit to monastery "St.Prohor Pcinski", the authentic place where the first ASNOM assembly was held.
In the name of the blood and the sun, the dagger and the gun, Christ protect this soldier, a lion and a Macedonian.
