Here's an English article on it:
Borisov Responds to Zaev's Ilinden–Preobrazhenie Uprising Comments

    Sofia, Bulgaria -

Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borisov answered the recent comments of Macedonia’s PM Zoran Zaev, who stated that the Ilinden–Preobrazhenie Uprising was a purely Macedonian. Borisov stated that he’ll take those words into account when Bulgaria’s time to vote for Macedonia entering the EU comes.

Borisov said: “Everyone measures their own words and that’s on their account. When he [Zaev] said such a thing, even if he said it without thinking, it’s on his account as well, because, when it comes to the EU, and we must also give our agreement, we’ll remind on these things. That’s why we advise that everyone remain more reserved. We were together on Thursday, we celebrated together, why are you bringing us back to this topic?”

Borisov’s comments come after several attacks and accusations that he’s ignoring Bulgaria’s national interests when it comes to Macedonia. Members of the opposition party BSP, including his leader Kornelia Ninova, who called Borisov’s lack of reaction “a silent agreement” with Zaev’s statements.

If it's a Bulgarian event, why not make it a national holiday in Bulgaria?

Wouldn't put it past them to eventually do it and for Zaev/Dimitrov to happily encourage it.

When you think it can't get worse, Zaev apologizes for saying Ilinden was exclusively a Macedonian uprising.

Macedonian premier Zoran Zaev described his comment about the 1903 Ilinden rebellion against Ottoman rule being exclusively Macedonian as a “mistake” after Bulgarian politicians accused him of distorting history.

Macedonia PM Apologises for Offending Bulgarians

Macedonian premier Zoran Zaev described his comment about the 1903 Ilinden rebellion against Ottoman rule being exclusively Macedonian as a “mistake” after Bulgarian politicians accused him of distorting history.

Macedonian PM Zoran Zaev apologised in a Facebook post on Friday about his controversial remark about the 1903 Ilinden rebellion that caused uproar among Bulgarian politicians on all sides.

“Sometimes we, politicians, are not careful enough, sometimes we make mistakes. But I assure you that this is only an act of carelessness, because we sincerely want your cooperation and friendship,” Zaev said in the apology to Bulgarians.

His comment about the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising of 1903, which is celebrated in both countries on August 2, had caused an angry reaction from Bulgarian public figures.

In an interview with Macedonian 1TV on August 4, Zaev said that “the Ilinden uprising is Macedonian”.

“If any citizen of Bulgaria wants to celebrate it, let them celebrate it,” he added.

The first criticism came from Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP leader Kornelia Ninova.

“Personal friendship with Mr Zaev, the common ideas and the joint efforts of the BSP and [Zaev’s] SDSM [party], and the shared future of the two countries in the EU and NATO are very important and we care about these, but there is a single historic truth and it can’t be ignored or twisted,” Ninova wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
Ninova also criticised Bulgarian PM Boyko Borissov for not speaking out against Zaev’s remarks.

Defence Minister and leader of the Bulgarian VMRO party Krasimir Karakachanov condemned the comment in an interview with Pik.bg on the same day.

“If Zaev really believes what he says, I recommend he read some history,” Karakachanov was quoted as saying.

“The clearest option was for him to speak the truth – that the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising was a common effort for the two countries,” he added, calling for the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry to take action immediately.

The Foreign Ministry did not issue an official statement, but on Thursday, Bulgarian premier Borissov warned Macedonia that “when the time comes for Bulgaria to give its position on the integration of Macedonia into the EU, we will remember these words [from Zaev] and make up our mind”.

Bulgaria and Macedonia have undergone a thaw in their relationship over the past year, after an almost complete freeze under Nikola Gruevski’s administration in Skopje.

In the past year, the leaders of both countries signed and ratified a ‘good neighbourliness’ agreement and celebrated a number of shared commemorations together, including the Ilinden rebellion.

Zaev has proven time and time again that he doesn't stand for anything...he just bends in the direction of whoever has farted his way...

              That’s not apologising, that’s grovelling.

I would like to say Zajko has no concept of what constitutes national humiliation, but in reality I think he just really doesn’t even care

Bulgaria's president says it will likely place sanctions on Macedonia because Zaev didn't really apologize for saying that Ilinden was Macedonian.

Friendship Treaty and Prespa Agreement working nicely together to destroy Macedonia.

Last paragraph in English: "The Bulgarian president expects his country to implement measures to sanction Macedonia, stressing that Bulgaria has all the bases for concluding an annex agreement on changing relations with Macedonia."

                  URL:

Macedonia, Bulgaria To Strengthen Cultural Cooperation

Bulgarian government on Wednesday approved a draft cultural cooperation programme between the Culture Ministries of Bulgaria and Macedonia for the period 2018-2021.

The cultural cooperation between the two countries is regulated with the agreement signed between two countries in Skopje on May 15, 2000 as well as in spirit of Treaty for Friendship, Good-Neighborliness and Cooperation signed between Bulgaria and Macedonia on February 14, 2018.

The draft programme takes into account mutual interests of the two countries and contains all necessary texts for developing relations between Bulgaria and Macedonia in the field of culture.

It regulates possibilities for cooperation in the field of theater, literature, art, translation and publishing works of writers, organising exhibitions and music festivals, cinema, music, dance, copyright protection rights.

It also defines engagements of two countries in preservation of cultural heritage and cooperation in prevention of illicit trafficking in cultural goods.
“There’s a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can’t take part, you can’t even passively take part, and you’ve got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus and you’ve got to make it stop, and you’ve got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you’re free, the machine will be prevented from working at all” - Mario Savio

Bulgarian politicians are presenting an annex to the Friendship Treaty to state that our history has been Bulgarian up through the early 20th century.

The Bulgarian political parties VMRO-Bulgarian National Movement and Ataka requested an annex to the friendship treaty between Macedonia and Bulgaria.

The two parties want Macedonia to cease its appropriation and misrepresentation of Bulgarian history. The leader of Ataka, Volen Siderov, revealed the information to the press and said he already prepared the annex’s conditions. He states that the friendship treaty allows for such a change.

Siderov summarized his demands: “In general, it [the annex] states that Macedonia should restrain from all speculation, all attempts at ceasing and appropriating of historical events and figures: rulers from the First Bulgarian Empire from tsar Krum to tsar Vladislav (I use tsar intentionally, as there are no khans), all the historical figures related to the struggle for national liberation and so on, all the historical events relating to that era. In short, we want a single descriptive and exact demand from the Macedonian state to stop with its careless actions that relate to our history and cause upset.”

VMRO-Bulgarian National Movement, not to be confused with VMRO-DPMNE, stated: “Our predecessors never made a distinction between Macedonian and Bulgarian. Those are two words for the same thing.” VMRO- BNM stated that while they understand the country’s Prime Minister Zoran Zaev is in a delicate position with the upcoming referendum, they also remind him that Bulgaria will have the final say for Macedonia to enter the European Union.
Second link is in Eastern Macedonian (oops, I mean Bulgarian), but is a strong reaction by Bulgarian political leaders after Zaev calls Macedonian a Macedonian language and not Bulgarian.

I have a strong feeling that Bulgaria may use the Friendship Treaty to veto us from entrance into NATO/EU if we call our language Macedonian. And least some Bulgarian politicians will try to do that:

Zoran Zaev: The Macedonian Language will be Official in a Union of 500 million Inhabitants

                          Sofia, Bulgaria -

A speech by the Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev provoked a sharp reaction by one of the ruling parties in Bulgaria. Claims for recognition of the Macedonian as an official language were described as insane, by the VMRO party.

The words of the Macedonian Prime minister in his official Facebook page were:

"The Macedonian language will be official in a union of 500 million inhabitants!

With EU integration, all official communications between the Republic of Macedonia and the European Union member states will be run and translated into the Macedonian language, as official and recognized in a territory where half a billion residents live."

Meanwhile, the co-president of the United Patriots Volen Siderov offered an annex to the Neighborhood Treaty between Bulgaria and Macedonia. The leader of Ataka will bring the draft decision to the parliament.

The dispute over Macedonia's new name is due to be resolved at a referendum to be held in late September. It will decide if the country will make a compromise to get membership in NATO and the European Union.

All member states of the European Union can nominate an official language. Even Malta, a country of less than half a million inhabitants who almost universally speak English, nominated Maltese as an official language of the European Union.

On the same topic, from an article in Macedonian news:

VMRO-BND say they understand the country's prime minister, Zoran Zaev, that he is in a delicate position with the upcoming referendum, but also reminded that Bulgaria will have the final say on Macedonia to join the European Union. They add that Macedonia became famous for bizarre and inaccurate historical claims regarding the history of Bulgaria and that for most Bulgarians - the country and the Macedonian population are ethnically - culturally and historically Bulgarian.

                                URL:
