It is already the case in some of the Casino's in Gevgelija that the patron must have a foreign passport in order to be allowed entry to the gambling area. This is also the reason for the situation with the language, as described by Phoenix.

Turkey's Princess Group has opened an 86 million euro ($114.4 million) casino hotel in Macedonia, Skopje-based media reported on Monday.

The elitist casino hotel Princess Hoteli i Kazino (www.princesshotelgevgelija.com) is located near the city of Gevgelija, in southern Macedonia near the border with Greece. It was opened over the weekend.

Am pleased our people will have difficulty to gain entry, gambling is an addiction and will destroy families

Well at least it is Turkish! However, I would like to see casinos owned and operated by responsible patiotic Macedonian Business-people.

The "Greek" owned casino in Gevgelija allegedly has a map in the lobby labeled FYROM for Macedonia.

            Fair enough.
The Albanian owned parts of Macedonia do similar things with Albanian Flags. Can someone find me some Macedonian owned parts that I can retire in one day?

Something everyone seems to be missing here, big money (casino's) brings organized crime, corruption and other nasty activities.

Macedonia has been lucky up until now to be free of corruption, prostitution and organized crime. . . . . I am wondering how many Masons and Rotarians (Rotary Club members) we currently have there.

Very few, only high ranking government officials (MUST BE) and elite businessmen and women.

                  Less then 1%

What they have now (corruption, prostitution and organized crime) multiply that by 50,000 - 100,000

                  NOTE

MakedonskaKafana one other thing to remember with all that corruption you mentioned going on a lot of corrupt money will be floating about in need of washing…the casinos are just glorified laundry mats for laundering money but instead of thinking you are lucky if your local laundry mat has an internet connection to pass the time while you wait for your load in the casino you get a martini to pass the time…ofcourse shaken not stirred.

For you other guys…keep thinking those dang Greeks and Bulgarians ect are loosing all their money in Macedonia.

There is a Lions Club in Skopje,Ohrid and Bitola

On the link i posted it says that the Sheraton Group owns the Princess Casino in Gevgelija.

They are going to build a massive shopping center in Gevgelija pretty soon too, they are looking to build Gevgelija as a tourist destination.

Singapore was against any form of legalised gambling for a long time, but recently it opened a grand Casino were only Tourists attend the locals are effectively discouraged by the 800 dollar SIN entry

That is how Macedonian family's should be protected from the ills of Gambling

Here is an article that I have found relating the the region's casinos. I hope they clean up the scandals so that the Govt gets the money it deserves and employees are paid.

About 2 or 3 years ago I remeber the disscussion about the casino in Gevgelija doing that.It was a disscussion on Maknews. I have nothing to back that up with. So I wrote allegedly.

My personal view is that this is a tragedy, and a sick parody of the kinds of forces that have operated in the past to break the Macedonian family down.

If the money was going toward the construction of a large Macedonian town in south west Macedonia, it might balance things out a bit.
