Both of the Macedonian clubs were eliminated from Europa League qualifications.

Rabotnicki lost 2:0 away to Liverpool today and Liverpool advances 4:0 on aggregate while Teteks lost 2:1 today to Elfsborg and they were eliminated 7:1 on aggregate after losing the first leg 5:0.

Velice Sumulikoski played two games on trial at Crystal Palace but their manager said that Sumulikoski will not be offered a contract.

Velice Sumulikoski finally has a new team. He signed with Russian team Sibir Novosibirsk. They are currently last place in the Russian Premier League but are still active in Europa League qualifications. They will face Dutch team PSV Eindhoven in the play-off round in the Europa League.

Sumi was allowed to withdraw yesterday from the national team to sort out his new contract with Sibir so he won't play on August 11 against Malta. Nikola Gligorov will replace him on the national team.

Another Pim Verbeek i think, he's previously coached Canada before this is beyond a joke why dont they get a high profile coach? Imagine have a world class coach like Gus Hiddink and going to some unknown coach.

We all know that Frank Lowy is not prepared to pay up anymore so they are getting these coaches. Hey if this was the case he should have taken Pierre Litbarsky at least he's won a world cup and an A-League title with Sydney FC.

Is high profile a guarantee for success...??

He's been an assistant to Beckenbauer in the 1990 WC win for Germany...he's coached one of the biggest clubs in Asia to an Asian club championship and he's been technical director at FIFA...

Australia doesn't need a high profile 'showman', it needs a coach who will add technical knowhow into our system, for both junior development and home bred coaches...

On paper this guy looks the goods, he has heaps of experience at national (Germany and Canada) level and club level (Japan)...lets give him a chance...

You're right Phoenix we can give him a chance but this guy is a big shock thats for sure, i dont think anybody tipped him to become the new coach.

Malta is actually a good side to play against we've beaten them 5 times before, lets do it again.

Malta 1:1 Macedonia

This game was a tale of two halves. We created a lot of chances in the 1st half but Naumoski hit the post from close range and Pandev missed twice from okay positions. Ivan Trickovski scored the goal for Macedonia with a header on a rebound after a lob by Gjurovski hit the post but Tricko was there to head the ball into the open net.

Malta got the equalizer early in the 2nd half and were better in the 2nd half and we were fortunate they they didn't score another goal. They had two great chances in the 2nd half but first Pacovski made a great save on a diving header and then a Malta player outraced our defense and hit the post.
