Whom UMD and Meto Koloski defends in Washington Meto Koloski, and thus Obedinenata policymakers in Washington to debate openly stood against the construction of the South Stream pipeline in Macedonia and in defense of American interests in reginoto. Whose interests defend UMD? On July 18 in Washington held a round table, "Energy concerns and opportunities in Southeast Europe after the G7", organized by the South East Europe and Richard Lugar coalition Institute for diplomacy. South East Europe is a coalition made up of a coalition of various ethnic organizations operating in this part of the region "to contribute to a better American foreign policy that reflects common interests and goals of ethnic groups in the United States, within the common American values" of the United Macedonian .Pretsedatelot diaspora Meto Koloski noted that the United States should have a more active role in the construction of energy infrastructure in the Balkans and Macedonia and other countries in the region should give up South Stream to diversify its energy supplies from different countries and to join trans-Adriatic Pipeline. This pipeline should lead from the border between Greece and Turkey via Greece, Albania on the Adriatic Sea, to the town of Lecce in the south of Italy, would have a capacity of 10 billion cubic meters of gas, one-sixth of the capacity of South Stream, and is expected to be built from 2018 to 2020th This attitude of these non-governmental lobby groups reflects the action of the American government space that is currently highlighted anti-Russian. Macedonia has a poorly developed infrastructure with a gas pipeline from Deve Bair to Skopje with a capacity of 800 thousand cubic meters of gas expandable to 1.2 billion cubic meters of gas and the utilization of about 20%. Only Strumica is gasified, there are activities for gasification of Skopje and a small gas infrastructure in Kumanovo. Weak gas infrastructure characteristic of Macedonia and Meto Koloski call for greater American involvement in the gas infrastructure, the first view is logical. But the United States had 22 years to show leadership in the region and Macedonia, enter investments in energy and gas infrastructure. Instead of leadership from the United States, we call not to adhere to the South Stream and seek other sources from which to buy energy. Macedonian government, on the other hand, signed the agreement on South Stream project, a Macedonian side as a separate contract and signed a contract to return to the Russian debt to Macedonia as a remnant of the Yugoslav debt. With this agreement, the Russian company to build part of the gas infrastructure in Macedonia, Deve Bair to Negotino, which will incorporate plant Negotino gas and will deliver cheap electricity for citizens of Macedonia, which is now expensive imports. Also, the path of the gas pipeline option for connecting will have more cities and industrial facilities in Eastern Macedonia, thereby further realize economic benefits that are necessary for this poor region. So the deal that Macedonia has with Russia in addition to developing gas infrastructure that is necessary em Macedonia. Also, South Stream, itself an alternative to our current pipeline why not pass through Ukraine, which has so far repeatedly blocked Russian gas to Europe. Given the current situation in Ukraine expect next winter Ukraine izpolitizira delivery of Russian gas to Europe, which would be disrupted gas supplies to Europe, and perhaps against Macedonia. Damage of this would be our economy that uses gas and would have to start using more expensive fuel to continue its production activities. In circumstances where we would be joined South Stream, this scenario is not possible why alternative would have the gas supplied through Ukraine. So South Stream brings only benefits to Macedonia. However, it must be borne in mind that Macedonia paid the most expensive gas in Europe is why many small user, and because there is no alternative supply options. But to have an alternative to Russian gas, the price of gas will be cheaper why excessive amounts supplied would be small, but it will be at a lower price than the current one. However in current conditions, using Russian gas, it is the cheapest fuel in the same rank as firewood, much cheaper than gasoline, electricity, fuel oil ... More obvious is that Macedonia has signed contracts with Russia to improve its gas infrastructure, energy costs will be reduced, and thus improve the economic position and will allow its citizens and industries steady source of cheap energy of which will benefit all who use this energy. In other words, South Stream and the contract to build gas infrastructure is of strategic interest to Macedonia. Government of Macedonia despite American efforts not deviate from contracts with Russia, and Ivanov recently publicly endorsed South Stream. UMD, last year's winner of the state shegot prominent Diaspora organization and is a participant in the debate in Washington calling Macedonia to abandon the South Stream and the agreement with Russia. This attitude of the South East Europe through UMD coalition is definitely detrimental to the interests of Macedonia and therefore pose a series of questions including: Are UMD and the only employee in her President of organization Meto Koloski propagate anti-Macedonian interests? Do not Koloski Macedonian citizenship which makes this self-interest or this is the attitude of the UMD? I have no answer to these questions. Macedonia em need and alternatives should be approached to join the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline, but in no case should not give up South Stream. Nor is it necessary to serve her scenarios similar to those for Ukraine - either you are with us or with them. Judging by the conclusions of the round table where attended UMD, Macedonia offers "or - or" pattern. This over organization whose mission is to promote Macedonian interests, culture and influence in the United States and Canada, still hangs a big gray cloud. It Meto Koloski is matured for this. But UMD is at a crossroads and in critical moments acting to harm em Macedonia and its interests in favor of the American? However you should know that UMD is registered in Washington as a lobby group and its scope of action within the limits of American interests. Acting on UMD, and thus the job of Meto Koloski would be led into question if the organization is acting outside those established American interests in a particular geographic area. The maintenance of such a round table confirms this assertion. Now the main question, if American interests in certain policies towards Macedonia Macedonian diametrically opposite, and are essential, important character Macedonia, given the problem with identity, whose side would stop UMD? izvor: http://falanga.com.au/-kogo-brani-om...-vo-vashington |

![]() Possibly UMD's finest piece of work...
The diaspora needs to work in a unitary fashion to fight against such treason...the diaspora wields significant economic and lobbying power and this has to somehow be leveraged against the political parties in Macedonia...perhaps breaking off communications with Macedonian parties as UMD has suggested is one way to put pressure on them. Blacklisting MP's, naming and shaming all collaborators, designating MP's 'persona non grata' in diaspora communities (when on international visits) may be viable strategies that could turn the screws on Macedonian politicians...can other legal avenues be pursued against these traitors... Where Macedonia is heading there is no turning back from that infernal place...every effort will need to be made to hunt down those traitors in the future...they can never be allowed to walk away from this freely and without consequences... |

![]() We do have to work together.
Unfortunately, we told UMD in private and public we will not work with them until they drop the former president of the MPO for 10 years (Chris Evanoff) from their advisory council. As long as he is one of UMD's bigger financiers, we just can't unite behind them, no matter how good of public press releases they put out. That man (Evanoff) and his followers have divided the Macedonian community in Detroit. When one of our priests was in Macedonia in 2015, they staged a coup at our church, tried to get rid of our Vladika, and really wanted to unite the two churches (eventually our St. Mary's MK church to be under Bulgarian OC jurisdiction). Evanoff's followers actually managed to convince some of our followers and one of our priests to leave the St. Mary's MOC church for the Macedono-Bulgarian church in Detroit = St. Clement Ohrid. Also, the secretary of the UMD Board is George Peters. In his bio, it says he goes to "St. Clement Ohrid" Church in Detroit. Well, that's not the whole truth. That church is a "Macedono-Bulgarian" church. I guess you can go to whatever church you want and still be Macedonian, but to go to that church and be on the Board? People feel uneasy about it. Chris Evanoff also goes to that church, St. Clement in Detroit. Similarly, 8 years ago, when there was a screening of A Name is a Name in downtown Detroit, "Macedonians" from St. Clement invited Macedonians from St. Mary's MOC to watch it together. Some Macedonians warned against it, but most Maks didn't listen. Well, before the showing of the film, they raised the Bulgarian flag and attempted to play the Bulgarian anthem. Suffice to say, people weren't happy. So, thanks for posting this Phoenix. But until UMD gets rid of these bad apples and stops taking money from just anyone, we can't get on board with them. I'm not saying UMD shares these views, but there are people on their board/council we feel uneasy about. |

![]() Vic,
I’m very far removed from the UMD fan club believe me. I am not suggesting any collaboration as such with UMD, due to many reasons that are largely inline with your concerns as well as their dubious connections and nefarious backroom dealings. What I would like to see from diaspora representative organizations is a reaction that is essentially from the same ‘playbook’...that the diaspora challenges the Zaev government as a united front with NO ambiguity in the message. Previous UMD press releases and thought bubbles have been very fluid, malleable and wishy-washy at best, the above press release held some promise that they’ve changed tact...at least that was my hope when posting. |
