Ivanov: We believe a name solution will be found

Skopje, 1 January 2011 (MIA) - A meeting between UN Special Envoy Matthew Nimetz and representatives of Macedonia and Greece, Zoran Jolevski and Ademantios Vasilakis respectively, over the bilateral name dispute is possible by the end of January, said Saturday President Gjorge Ivanov.

According to him, such a meeting is expected to accelerate the process, resulting in a solution to the issue that has burdened Macedonia for two decades.

KATHIMERINI: JAN.27 MEETING 'INFORMAL'



Athens, 4 January 2011 (MIA) - An 'informal meeting' for reviewing the positions of both parties and to serve as a reminder that the process is still alive and sponsored by the United Nations, reads the Greek daily 'Kathimerini', commenting the announced talks of the UN mediator in Athens-Skopje name negotiations, Matthew Nimetz, with the countries' representatives, Zoran Jolevski and Adamantios Vassilakis, for January 27 in New York.

Greece's Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that nothing has been changed for the last few month, including Skopje positions on the matter that would enable positive development, the daily reads.

Macedonian side considers the upcoming encounter as a step towards intensifying the activities for settling the name row and therefore governmental officials immediately accepted Nimetz's invitation for the meeting, 'Kathimerini' quoted Greek diplomats as saying. THE NEW EU AMBASSADOR TO MACEDONIA SORENSEN

Skopje, March 1, 2011 (Reuters) - The new EU ambassador in Macedonia Danish diplomat Peter Sorensen, who replaces Fouere, today arrived in Skopje.

Според Никовски САД не е наш стратешки партнер.

„Ако националниот идентитет на македонскиот народ е сериозно загрозен, а САД се главниот поборник да се самообезличиме, во што е нивното партнерство“, пишува Ристо Никовски, советник на претседателот на РМ.

Според Никовски, „САД се клучни и за блокадата и уцената која ни ја испорачува НАТО - или ќе се прекрстите или нема членство“.

Во последно време, се атакува на амбасадорите Фуере, Филипини, и европратеникот Талер оцрнувајќи ги како најголеми непријатели, а сега на тапет е американскиот амбасадор.

Utrinski Vesnik to Close, Dnevnik, Vest on Shaky grounds...

Closure of Utrinski Vesnik, layoffs at Dnevnik, Vest and Tea was the announcement by MPM (Media Print Macedonia), the company who prints numerous daily newspapers.

According to MPM, Utrinski Vesnik will layoff around 50 people, which means it will cease to exist within a month. 10 layoffs are foreseen at Dnevnik and only 2 at printed daily Vest.

This informaiton caused strong reaction among journalist employed by Utrinski Vesnik.

An ultimatum was issued to Srgan Kerim, the head of MPM asking him for rationalization among management staff instead of journalists. Journalists at Utrinski, Dnevnik and Vest have scheduled a strike on Tuesday in front of MPM's building.

Bing once again focuses on Macedonia

The current Bing (Microsoft search engine) website once again chose to showcase Macedonia to its visitors. On today's front page Bing is showing the church of St John Kaneo, while in squares talks about the young nation which obtained its independence twenty years ago.

Bing gives its visitors current news and talks about Macedonia's problem with Greece in which the southern neighbor asks the country changes its name in order to be admitted to the EU.

Bing is quite fond of Ohrid lake, as is NASA. In one of the squares Bing explains that NASA was so impressed with Ohrid lake, it gave the same name to a lake located on Saturn's moon Titan.

In another square Bing talks about Macedonian history, adding it was the home of Alexander the Great.
