there is no doubt greek culture is a racist and xenophobic one, what is disturbing is the lack of critical thought and political courage in greece to oppose and speak out against it.

greece is often compared to nazi germany but i think its unfair to the hundreds of thousands of germans who lost their lives fighting against the nazis and their policies and were frightened into submission.

greece is definitely worse because their racism is ingrained so deeply that oppression is not necessary any more most greeks accept it as natural and reasonable to hate turks albanians and macedonians.

the sad thing is many greeks are in fact either turks macedonians or albanians.

Yes, this is what they'd like us to believe.
Every newly elected gov in the world blames everything on the previous leaders in power.

In my opinion, the 'pieces' and 'mess' you refer to, stem from Mr.Papandreous father..... but that is a different story alltogether.

Spartan, Why would Karamanlis call an early Election when all the polls had him loosing by a record margin? Karamanlis knew he was in a mess he couldnt clean up so he jumped ship.

Whats your opinion on Mitsotakis and his daughter Dora Boykoyanis? Papandreu is not even born in Greece he is born in USA, how is he allowed to be Prime Minister of Greece?

He is a Greek citizen?

Karamanlis told the people the truth in regards to the then upcoming financial crisis, and the measures that would need to be taken eventually. The people didnt like it, and thats why he was losing in the polls, and why he lost. The people were demanding for an election to be called. He commited political suicide ( which I believe was predetermined, but thats just conjecture on my part).

This problem stretches back to when greece first entered the EU.
Karamanlis' ND didnt create this problem, it goes much further back.

I tend to agree with your assesments above but can't help going back to the old adage " Your'e either part of the problem or part of the solution", and when you apply the formula to Karamanlis it appears from the onset that he became part of the problem for possible political gain, instead of tackling what he inherited- head on, your thoughts?

Ms Papadopopopoulousos stated that the incident was a 'misunderstanding', and that the sign actually indicated a rejection of the insulting term 'Skopia.' She further implored the Macedonian Government not to exaggerate the incident. "[This position] should be condemned and it is being condemned. It doesn't represent the people of Greece, its position and mentality," Papadopoulou told reporters after the meeting.

I dont absolve Karamanlis from all this. Everything and everyone that led up to this problem the last 20-30 years played their part. I just think some did more than others.
To be honest, I feel Karamanlis did the 'honourable' thing in actually telling the people what was coming, as most greek politicians would have swept that under the carpet in the face of an election. He definitely could have done more though, I agree with you there.
I think that his insistance on further strengthening the military was one of his downfalls. I am of the opinion that a strong military is a good thing, but he put too many eggs in that basket, and left others empty.

I agree with you frank. It is a travesty, they insult us by entering into negotiations to take away our identity and our beautiful macedonian name, There are more Macedonians in the diaspora then in the Republic of Macedonia, and they are selling our very right to call ourselves Macedonian and play into the Greeks bullshit, our culture and our existence.

The Macedonian government has done NOTHING to highlight who we are dealing with. Macedonians on the forums around the world gave this lots of attention and did spread the word while the Macedonian gov once again kept quiet. I would also like to know what is happening and where are all the intellegent Greeks and why do they still put up with this shit? But I also would like to know how much longer does the every day Macedonian have to wait for the gov to stand up and say enough is enough?
