Naa mate if you add Handball and Basketball together they wouldnt come even close to how popular Football is. Our people demand quality, i was at the Macedonia-Spain game last year and the stadium was jammed packed.

After being used to watching the best quality football in the 70s and 80s to seeing pub teams like Renova from Dzepchishte come along and even be champions nobody is interested. When you have no profesionalism, you got no quality and when you got no quality you have no success and nobody wants to know you let alone watch you play.

The reason why Handball and Basketball are popular is because they are successful, you look at money wise its alot cheaper to be successful in those two sports rather then in football. Kire Lazarov who is probably the top scorer in the Hanball European Champions League, he was top scorer in the last world cup with a record 93 goals (World record) and he went to the best Spanish club Real Socied for 150,000 euros which is chump change for football especially in Europe and even the Middle East/Asia.

We have alot of history in Handball,Football and Basketball meaning we've always played these games and have done very well to some extent but believe me Football is miles ahead of anything else and its easy to market a successful product, when you are winning and when you are beating quality oposition everybody wants to support you but our people in Macedonia dont look at the big picture they look at getting rich over night its only now that things are slowly changing with the Government investing in new infrastructure, new grounds, sporting equipment even sporting pensions to those who have successfully represented Macedonia. Its much better then it was 5 years ago but its certainly not enough.

Prolet, few years ago i watched Pelister football and Rakomet. Watching the Football was like watching Lalor sloga play. Where as the Rakomet, it was an expeiriance i will never forget. The crowds were in greater numbers and atmosphere was electric.

Pelister probably had the most success in Rakomet out of all the Macedonian sides during the 70s and 80s. Pepi Manaskov played in Pelister at his prime where he was up there with the very best in the world.

The Macedonian Footbal League has always been weak, in the early 90s it was solid to some stage but from then on it was very ordinary. If Pelister went in the Champions League and played against quality oposition you'll see that there will be punch ups over tickets if say a team like Real Madrid or Liverpool came to Tumbe Kafe. Who are they going to watch Sloga Jugomagnet? Milano From Kumanovo? No chance people are not going to waste their time with those hacks.

Prolet, Macedonia is a small nation with limited resources when it comes to the support and promotion of sport and the inability to play in a strong league such as the one of the former YU has meant that the lofty standards of previous decades has fallen quite drastically and is unlikely to make a recovery for many generations if at all

We are better in Handball in Basketball because there are much more clubs and closed sport facilities to play them actively.

Having those Tato and tatini sinovi in the few football schools it's pretty hard to bring, rase and develop skilled footballers.

              Vardar 1-0 Pelister

One of the best derby games in a long time, there are reports in the media that suggest that the police attacked the Komiti to stop them going after the Chkembari but that story is not true. Apparently there are two injured Policemen.

We lost 1:0. The goal was scored in the 90th minute. We played defensive and our team was very disciplined and Slovakia could not break us down but Sikov got a red card in the 85th minute and that had a big effect on the game.

Sikov is a CB but played at RB in this game and I don't know why he was given a 2nd yellow card in the 85th minute. He received a yellow in the 66th minute and then he was down in the 85th minute because he was cramping up. He got to the sidelines and then the ref showed him a second yellow. I don't know if the ref thought he was faking his injury but that was a harsh call.

We created some chances with Pandev looking threatening a couple of times and Georgievski also had a great chance in the 76th minute but his shot was just wide.

Makalek, maybe because he was time wasting? Edin Nuredinovski also got booked. Velice Shumolikoski almost gave away a stupid penalty and he probably would have had a red card aswell with a rush challenge from behind, he certainly lounged.

We deserved to loose after playing anti football, that was a disgusting game to watch especially because Slovakia was an ordinary opponent and all their attacks were very predictable down the wing, with ground crosses they never really offered anything.

Mirsad Jonuz also got sent off, what was he doing on the field?? Bratot will give us further information on the game.

Slovakia defeats Macedonia in 92nd minute

                          Friday, 03 September 2010

Filip Holosko scored in injury time to give Slovakia a 1-0 win over Macedonia in their opening 2012 European Championship qualifying game on Friday.

Holosko beat Macedonia goalkeeper Edin Nuredinovski two minute into added time to secure three points for the host.

It was the Besiktas winger's sixth international goal in 42 appearances for Slovakia.

Six minutes earlier, Macedonia defender Vance Sikov was sent off for picking up a second yellow card for time-wasting.

Bizarrely, the Macedonian coach was ejected as well after arguing with the referee and entering the pitch. The loss could be even contributed to the Macedonian coach for his antics.

Slovakia, which reached the knockout stages of the World Cup in June, lacked attacking strength and created few chances as key strikers Robert Vittek and Stanislav Sestak were missing because of injuries.

Slovakia and Macedonia are in Group B with Russia, who beat Andorra 2-0, and Ireland, who defeated Armenia 1-0.

Makalek, I thought i'd post the player ratings and the comments which are pretty much spot on.

                            Slovakia Macedonia - Player Ratings

                            Saturday, 04 September 2010
                            Image

How the Macedonian players and Coach fared individually against Slovakia in their first qualifying match.

Rating is based on 0 to 10, 10 being the maximum rating a player can receive.

                            Starting 11:

3 Edin Nuredinoski: The Macedonian goalkeeper exuded confidence in the first half against Slovakia. One can say he was lucky not to concede earlier due to mistakes by Slovakia's offensive players. Nuredinoski seemed to have been nailed to the goal line, because he never left it behind. He could have done much better in stoppage time, intercept the pass to Holosko and prevent the goal.

6 Vance Shikov: The young Macedonian did well for most of the match, was all over the pitch defensively as well as in offense. His red card can be attributed as one of the reasons for team's collapse in the last moment of the match. Shikov was rightfully booked for time wasting.

4 Goran Popov: The Dinamo Kiev player had a very disappointing performance. Was also involved in time wasting. Sent a cannon of a shot that narrowly missed Slovakia's goal. Macedonia needed more of Popov, and apart from that one shot, he just wasn't there.

2 Igor Mitreski: Extremely disappointing performance by a player who by all counts should be retired from football. His presence was non existent. Slovakia sent over 20 crossess into the box from Macedonia's weak (right) side that Mitreski should have defended. The final cross which resulted in a goal also came from the defensive right side.

3 Slavco Georgievski: Seemed more usefil in offense than diffense. Missed a great opportunity to score in the second half.

6 Ivan Trickovski: The young Macedonian did well, was the only player in the first half to threaten the Slovak goalie with dangerous shots on goal. Trickovski missed Gjurovski who remained on the bench... will get to the coach soon.

0 Velice Shumulikoski: This is the first 0 we have ever given out to a player. Shumulikoski was more dangerous to the Macedonian goal, than the Slovak goal. It is an absolute miracle, he has chosen to play football as a sport and has made it to the national team. As a midfielder, Shumulikoski made no successful pass and repeatedly fouled the opposition just outside the box, gifting them dangerous free kicks. Almost contributed to a PK for the Slovaks and was outpaced by every player... Even 0 is generous here...

7 Goran Pandev: Pandev did his best in both halfs. Was repeatedly fouled, found himself in several goal scoring chances, however was unlucky in his finishing.

1 Ilco Naumovski: The Macedonian forward did nothing the entire 61 minutes he spent of the field. Apart from the occasional verbal jabs at Slovak players, he seemed too slow to make any play and left Pandev isolated.

5 Filip Despotovski: This was a trickier test than he has endured in friendly matches, but he was bright and energetic on the pitch, exposing Slovak defense at times with his pace and trickery.

                            ----- Subs-------

7 Stevica Ristic: Ristic brought another level of energy upfront. He replaced Naumovski which meant it can only get better. And it sure did. Ristic set up Pandev instantly for a goal scoring chance, while his speed and agility proved very difficult for the Slovaks to defend.

NA Boban Grncarov: did not get enough playing time to earn a rating.

NA Lazevski: did not get enough playing time to earn a rating.

0 Coach Mirsad Jonuz: Second Zero for today. Made a mockery of a line-up, excluded few players who were vital in numerous friendlies in which Macedonia won. Lost his head, entered the pitch near the end of the match (got straight red card). Set up a strategy to time waste from the first minute. Nobody likes coaches that teach anti-football. Better lose big, than to witness disgraceful time wasting and antics and still lose at the end. //MINA

I'm still in Slovakia Prolet, it seems we got the respect of the Slovakians but haven't better our reputation, we as usually lose from the better ranked teams and our ranking suit us well.

We had too many missed occassions and too much acting by our players.

The goal was result of goalkeeper's mistake, he should run out for the ball.

We ruined another good oportunity to advance in the crucial matches.

Good to hear from you Brate

Thanks for the update mate, the Slovaci wernt all that good but we disgraced ourselves. We did hang on but we played anti football and thats not a good thing especially for our supporters.

If you look at the player ratings they are pretty accurate especially the one on Sumulikoski who is a shocker of a player.

Whats it like in Bratislava by the way? Hope you're having a good one mate, you can tell me what the Curi are like when you get back lol
