There is big dispute whether Ancient Macedonians were of Hellenic (Greek) origin and thus speeking a Greek language or not. Here is a rejoinder of Aleksandar Donski, where he claims that ancient Macedonians were indeed a separate ethnos, hence not in direct relationship with Hellenic Greeks.
