Zaev reaches secret agreement with the Albanian opposition, Sela hints that Jus soli will apply in citizenship applications

Ziadin Sela from the Alliance of Albanians announced that an agreement was reached with Prime Minister Zoran Zaev for the proposed citizenship laws, but that the details will be revealed next week. Sela and his coalition partner Afrim Gashi were blocking work in the Parliament until Zaev agrees to a new model of issuing citizenships to Albanians, and claimed that thousands, if not tens of thousands Albanians were denied Macedonian citizenship.

Their original proposal was to have applicants be approved if they provide several witnesses who will vouch that they lived in Macedonia prior to its independence in 1991. Their new plan is to have the jus soli principle used – give citizenship to anyone born in Macedonia. Several private clinics in Skopje are very popular destinations for Kosovo Albanian families who are looking for better gynecological care and if this rule is applied many young Kosovo Albanians could claim Macedonian citizenship.

Prime Minister and SDSM leader Zoran Zaev fell short of responding whether his party and DUI, the junior government coalition partner, will endorse a joint candidate for mayor in the coming local elections when asked to comment on a recent statement by DUI leader Ali Ahmeti. Zaev, without going into detail, said DUI ‘has something nice to announce on Saturday.’

I will tell you what I know, and of course I was informed by my first Deputy Prime Minister. DUI has something nice to announce on Saturday. It is nice because it is in full correlation with the work of the Government. It is nice because it is modern and because it corresponds to the 21st century. I am pleased that this is the way of thinking in the highest organs and bodies of DUI. I will let DUI announce it because it is their agenda, of course shared with us, said Zaev today after the event at the Clinical Center in Skopje.

According to him, Ahmeti’s announcement will reflect a number of state policies that were incorporated in time in accordance with the new agenda that DUI.

I believe, it is all in the spirit of improving the overall political environment in the country. I am glad that we have made serious changes in SDSM, direct elections, 50 percent women, 50 percent men, greater representation of young people, etc., we have included a lot of new people, and what DUI is doing is really refreshing and nice news, but of course, it is the right of DUI to announce it, so I will not go into details, said Zaev.

Taliban orders its Mujahideen of the "Islamic Emirate" to enter Kabul in order "to prevent chaos and theft" shortly after President Ghani fled the country.

(Update: Latest news reports that President Ghani has fled to Tajikistan, that Government has totally disintegrated and Taliban are moving into Kabul. NBC reports "Armed Taliban fighters seen on streets of Kabul.")

Another "nation building" exercise goes up in smoke. What an absolute fiasco. After 20 years of supreme military power in a geographically and culturally segregated region, the most "sophisticated" countries in the world weren't capable of mitigating rampant corruption, training a functioning security force that can hold territory or establishing a political system that is fit for purpose. Aside from some new infrastructure and weapons that have been left behind, back to square one, literally.

This aged like milk. 😅 Biden, July 8: "There’s going to be no circumstance where you see people being lifted off the roof of a embassy in the—of the United States from Afghanistan....The likelihood there’s going to be the Taliban overrunning everything and owning the whole country is highly unlikely."

(U.S. have "asked" Taliban to spare its embassy in coming fight)

Biden and his pals were saying a Taliban victory or the fall of Kabul is not a foregone conclusion.
                    https://www.foxnews.com/politics/pre...as-kabul-falls

President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris avoided appearing on camera as Kabul, the capital city of Afghanistan, fell to the Taliban on Saturday and Sunday. Biden spent the weekend at the Camp David presidential retreat, going on vacation as the situation worsened in Afghanistan. Although Biden did release a written statement on Afghanistan on Saturday, he did not go on camera to reassure the American people as news broke that officials were destroying documents in the U.S. Embassy in Kabul and even taking the American flag down from the site. He has yet to speak directly to the American people on camera directly after Afghanistan's president, Ashraf Ghani, fled the country and after the Taliban stormed the presidential palace in Kabul, with "with "exclusive" access granted to the terrorist-linked Al Jazeera network. A senior administration official told another network that Biden would address the nation "in the next few days" about the crisis in Afghanistan. A member of Congress on a foreign affairs committee call said, "We've heard more from the Taliban than we've heard from Biden," according to Fox News White House Correspondent Jacqui Heinrich.

I'm sure somewhere at the core of the woke narrative is the usual blame shifting targeting Trump and with a "move on - nothing to see here" wave of the hand the left will again stupefy the masses...meanwhile, America's enemies are rejoicing.

The CCP will never be more confident to pick off Taiwan than they are today...

They were blaming Trump even before the Taliban made their most substantial advances. Trump made the initial deal, ergo, blame him for everything, even though Biden is the one implementing it without the conditions that Trump would have set out. So the logic goes. The Dems are absolutely incapable of taking any responsibility and indeed, America's enemies are rejoicing. A strong argument can be made that they should've left Afghanistan long ago, but to leave in such a haphazard manner, almost begging for time to evacuate their personnel whilst the Taliban lounge around the presidential palace in Kabul like victorious conquerors, speaks volumes.

The military is one institution where D&I (by the way, apparently it's DEI now, lest we forget equity) shouldn't take precedence over meritocracy. But, this is Biden's America. So, whatevs.

It was only a matter of time before their incompetence and corruption would cost lives (again). I'm inclined to say good riddance, but given their close relationships with Zaev and Ahmeti respectively, I suspect they'll still be slithering around in the background even if they resign. And many more should resign or be dismissed for this and other failures in public health and safety.
