According to unofficial diplomatic sources, I learned that in addition to bargaining with Macedonian history, identity and national heroes, Zaev promised Borisov that Bulgarian capital would enter a large Macedonian bank and a large telecommunications company, stated Antonio Milososki, MP and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee. We believe that the European Union, including Bulgaria, should recognize the fact that the Republic of Macedonia in the past 20 years has deserved to start negotiations without any blackmail. Let historians discuss history, but the start of negotiations should not depend on any other requirements. What is being said in diplomatic unofficial circles is that part of the tension created between Borisov and Zaev refers to some promises made by Zaev related to Macedonian history, identity and language. But the tension is also linked to Bulgaria’s promise to enter a major Macedonian bank and a major telecommunications company. We cannot know to what extent that is true, because the Government works exclusively behind closed doors, says Milososki.
Not sure what Milososki is complaining about, his previous charade as a bulgarophile sycophant helped facilitate the current state of affairs. Perhaps he's had a change of heart. In case anybody needs a reminder, see him respond to a reporter about a decade ago where, in an effort to please those that despise him, he fluctuates between speaking literary Macedonian and the Russianised vernacular used by the modern Bulgars.

The 'dream team' negotiating Macedonian culture and history, consisting of albanophone northadonians, bulgarophile northadonians and steppe-nostalgic easterners.

Not a Macedonian in sight.

Latest provocations and insults from Bulgaria. (The Zaev government is largely keeping silent; actually, as late as yesterday, I believe Zaev said that "Macedonians and Bulgarians" have common history.)

In addition to (new) provocations by Zakharieva below, one Bulgarian parliamentarian recently stated in front of Bulgarian parliament that the only path forward is "unification of Macedonia with Bulgaria".

Бугарија на Захариева сака историски да не ребугаризира, но многу повеќе-тие сакаат да не понижат дека Тито и Македонија биле Америка за Бугарите:

Ѓорѓи Спасов и одговори на Захариева околу “диктаторот” Тито:
https://makedonskivesnik.com/spasov-zaharieva-tito/

State Department: Skopje and Sofia to resolve the dispute outside accession process

URL:
https://english.republika.mk/news/ma...ssion-process/

The United States urge Bulgaria and Macedonia to resolve outstanding bilateral disputes outside the accession process to achieve the shared goal – EU membership for Macedonia.

We are clear in our desire to see Macedonia’s candidature enter the negotiating framework by the end of this year, a State Department spokesperson told VOA, welcoming negotiation efforts.

The statement said the enlargement process promotes long-term peace, stability and prosperity throughout the region.

EU’s decision in March to open accession talks with Macedonia was a positive step, and denied the false narrative that the transatlantic community had neglected the Balkans. Delaying these countries’ accession to the EU risks reviving questions of EU credibility in the region, the State Department spokesperson said, adding that the United States was a strong supporter of Euro-Atlantic integration of the Western Balkans.

Zoran Zaev gave a shocking interview with the Bulgarian BGNES news agency, in which he gave away a number of strategic positions of national identity and on historic issues. In the interview, Zaev praised Bulgaria for liberating much of Macedonia at the end of the World War Two and referred to its prior occupation as “some administration”, and blurred the distinction between the two nations:

The reactions keep on coming. Macedonian historians from the joint commission have condemned Zaev's comments.

Also...

Zoran Jovanovski, a former top official of the SDSM party and a candidate for party leadership, strongly condemned current leader Zoran Zaev over his shocking BGNES interview, in which he readily agreed to all Bulgarian positions toward Macedonia. One of the statements Zaev made was that private individuals who make “unfriendly” comments aimed at Bulgaria will be fined.

I see he wants to go after hate speech toward foreign peoples and countries. Is there also a fine for hate speech against your own nation and country? Jovanovski said, in a comment clearly aimed at Zaev.

That dickhead will be quoted for decades. I can't believe he's alive still.

Is there a chance the current government will fall as a result of this? Zaev even threw Pendarovski under the bus.

Another reaction I read on republika:

"A descendant of Mirka Ginova, famous socialist fighter during World War Two who was brutally murdered by Greek monarchist forces in 1946, angrily dismissed the comments Zoran Zaev made to the BGNES news site today.
Somebody please reel in this fool. He is so illiterate, he shouldn’t be allowed to say anything beyond “good day” and “goodbye” – says Biljana Ginova"

I thought Ginova doesn't have descendants.

Former Foreign Minister Ilinka Mitreva calls on Zaev to resign

URL:
https://english.republika.mk/news/ma...aev-to-resign/

Former Foreign Affairs Minister and SDSM party official Ilinka Mitreva joined calls to have Zoran Zaev removed from the helm of the party and the country after his scandalos acceptance of all Bulgarian positions in the dispute over national identity and history. Mitreva called on the SDSM party to hold a congress, where it will remove Zaev.

Euro-integrations were and remain our constant goal to which we strive, but not at the price the Prime Minister is willing to pay. It is time for Zaev to face the court of public opinion. There is on room for him to explain his positions or maneuver, there is no time to amnesty him. There is only time to hold a party congress. As a former political official and as a citizen it is my right and obligation to stand in support of national pride, Mitreva said.

Zaev is facing a major revolt in the party, with two major factions developing – one supportive of him and the other calling for his ouster.
