More UMD praise for the Framework Agreement:

With American cooperation and support, Macedonia has emerged as a model of multi-cultural peace and stability in a region long plagued with strife and well known for its inter-ethnic tensions.
I am interested in seeing the evidence for this gem:

The first Macedonian to ever set foot in the Americas was Dragan of Ohrid, who sailed together with Christopher Columbus, in 1492.
If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

The Revolution was in the minds and hearts of the people; a change in their religious sentiments, of their duties and obligations...This radical change in the principles, opinions, sentiments, and affections of the people was the real American Revolution. John Adams

UMD Meets with UN Envoy Nimetz

The United Macedonian Diaspora (“UMD”) met yesterday with the United Nations (“UN”) Special Envoy, Mediator Matthew Nimetz, in New York. During the meeting UMD stressed the unprecedented resolution asking the Republic of Macedonia to negotiate over its official name. These imposed “name negotiations” have de facto deprived the basic right of self-identification from the millions of Macedonians worldwide, and the UMD delegation used the opportunity to call once again for their immediate termination.

It is slowly coming out that UMD isn't really against the name negotiations. Another ploy to attempt to placate public opinion. Why even meet with Nimitz? What could possibly be the purpose of such a meeting? Further, what exactly is the meaning of this:
Furthermore, while Macedonia has demonstrated its commitment to partake in these mediations, Greece on the other hand, has continued to decline many proposals that have been put forward, and has been vetoing Macedonia’s membership in Euro-Atlantic organizations, such as NATO and the EU.
More support for name change proposals!

I would say Friedman, like others in his field, has ALSO LEFT A DEEP (AND DESTRUCTIVE) "SLAV" MARK "on the entire Macedonian nation and global Macedonian community" (as well as the international academic world) and that needs to be corrected or you would only be reinforcing that NEGATIVE ASPECT (which, IMO, is very significant) of his distorted Macedonian historical and ethno-genetic view as seen via his "Slav"-coloured lenses.

Nimmetz is not going to listen to an organization like umd.He has been put there to work on the macedonians to compromise their name & capitulate.I wonder what they actually said.
There's no way that nimmetz would stop the name negotitions that's why he wasput there.

Meto, what about Dragan of Ohrid? Will you be providing a posthumous award for him?

I can't imagine that confused Bulgarophile will be attending any Diaspora functions. But if the UMD is inviting Gligorov (Strange not to see Wills & Kate getting an invite btw) then anything goes I suppose.

Well, I see this as the make or break it conference year. Toronto, was a disappointment with 200,000 ethnic Macedonians in the GTA and UMD managed to attract roughly 1,000 people .. average age 50 during 3 days. Anything less then 1,000 in Washington DC will be considered another financial setback.

Not, long ago Melbourne managed to get 30,000 Macedonians to attend a half day event for free.

Why would you even invite a Macedonian dusman like Gligorov? Maybe, George Soros next year for the Goce Delcev award?
