Ivanov is irrelevant. As long as the west backs Zaevs unconditionally anything is possible.

Just in regards to elections, it will be complete insanity if they hold another election before a proper census. They’ve lost their marbles..

Ivanov is gone in the spring. So they could probably push the signing off until a new president is elected.

But for that to happen, they need a) Macedonian parliament to pass it and b) Greece to ratify it.

To get it passed in Parliament, I believe they need 7 votes. Zaev is going to talk to MPs tomorrow to see if there are enough votes. Is this code for "bribing" them with the promise of amnesty or blackmailing them?

If there are elections, I think SDS will have lost voters. But I think DPNE will have lost many as well because people are fed up with them and they didn't join Bojkotiraj until the last minute. Therefore, other parties like Edinstvena and Levica might make big gains.

So, whoever can form a coalition with these new parties is one aspect. The other aspect: it's likely whoever wins the elections would have to still make a deal with DUI or another Albanian coalition. Which could mean the same thing: accept the conditions of the Tirana Platform.

This is why I don't completely understand why Zaev is calling for elections. I don't think he really wants them. I think it's a bluff. He said it too soon...on the day of the referendum. I think he may think that he can push it through Parliament and elections are just his way of trying to seem like he respects and cares what the will of the people is.

Perhaps he is confident he can obtain 2/3 majority.

Insanity I say because no one knows how many permanent residents there are hence the country is basing elections and referendums on these figure. Furthermore we have an artificially inflated Albanian community who hold every government to ransom.

Absolutely not never. The two major Macedonian parties put forward self interest and hatred of the other as the only priority, bit like two rival mafia gangs. National interest does not come in the equation.
