I think the outcome will certainly be a blockade & it's going to cost macedonia a lot.Last blockade back in the 1990's cost macedonia big money & crippled it's economy.
George, can you show me how life improved in Macedonia once Greece had lifted their blockade? Did the money start 'pouring' in after this? Macedonia need not fear a blockade from Greece, it is not the only other country in Europe that we can trade with.

An 'embargo' from Greece is the least of Macedonia's economic problems. Its economy is so fundamentally crippled with inefficiencies, red-tape, corruption, fraud and general lawlessness, that I doubt anyone will really notice a trade blockade on the Greek border.

I disagree. The embargo will be noticed. The Greeks across the border will be killing people trying to get into Macedonia for cheaper piperki.

Greek MPs Fearful to say 'Hello' to Macedonian Colleagues

You have to wonder what do they tell these MPs in Greece? Its like they are from another planet.

Tuesday, 05 April 2011

More failed meetings between Macedonian and Group Parliamentary groups. The trend continues since 1992. Macedonia's head of Parliament Trajko Veljanovski attempted to kick start a collaboration process with his Greek counterpart Philippos Petsalnikos, however official Athens isn't interested in any Parliamentary communication, adding "it's not good time for that".

As two neighboring nations, Greece and Macedonia have never held any sort of parliamentary communication. As the president of the Commission for European Affairs, Petar Pop Arsov, says: we have not even gotten to the collaboration phase yet.

In 2002, Macedonia formed a parliamentary group whose sole purpose was to collaborate and communicate with their Greek counterparts in parliament, however no such group was formed in Athens. The Macedonian group still exists and had sent numerous letters to Athens, but never received a response back.

There is no communication between the Macedonian and Greek MPs in Brussels as well. "Not just that they avoid being in the same room with us, but they don't say a simple 'hello' when passing in the hallway, out of fear someone will see them", say Macedonian MPs in Brussels.

So why do our politicians continue to beg for the right? They don't want to talk, then let it be until circumstances change. Macedonia has more important things to worry about.

Som i know macedonia will get her stuff through other means.I know for a fact Marco Polo had difficulties in importing their goods from macedonia via solun,They went by either through Bulgaria with trucks & through
albania.Greece aims to cause as much destruction & mayhem to macedonia whether they succeeed is another matter. There are other alternatives i agree with you.The other thing macedonia is poor to start with so it can't get any worse.
Alot of people in the last embargo voiced their opinion to say that greece had no right to do it & recommended greece to lift it's embargoe. The eu was mean't to sue the greeks for restitution for the damage the embargo did.(the eu never pursued it)We'll see what happens next time.
It is good to hear that the people of Macedonia have no intention to change their name for the sake of entering NATO or EU or whatever bullshit org we are promised. Our name is one and only, changing it will be the end of everything we fought for, everything our vojvodi fought for. It will crash the only dream the Macedonians have had through the years. Free Macedonia.
I just want it to be free, too. I don't give a toss what the invading 'Greeks' say or think, as long as it stops at the border. We can only demand that others respect our rights, and remind people of the truth. Gruevski has invited the enemy to a seat at the table behind secret closed doors to meddle with our identity, and political existence. It's insane. Now he is proposing we take on the term 'Skopje' as a distinguishing 'marker' of our identity and our place, even though it has been used by the invading 'Greeks' to hide who we are in the history books, to make us disappear from the national story, and to basically erase us / as well as to make the point that we are not and cannot be Macedonians.

George S. 04-07-2011 02:42 AM

who want's to be in nato or the eu if you have to change your name. What will gruevski & co do now that the majority of people don't want a name change??

I read an article last week where a Government minister together with a EU rep were at a school in Skopje promoting a school education book on benefits for joining EU. The tactics these bastards use is beyond belief. F... with their minds while they're young.
