Now that the Greeks were talking against Germany, the Germans are disapointed about their pat!
What are the Greeks?
The Greeks does not descend from the Greeks. That is a historic truth, which in secret does not leave the Greeks at peace. Out of this fact, they still keep the slavic Minority in Northern Greece in secret, and dispute the name of the Republic of Macedonia. Let the log story keep short: At the end of the Antiquity, in year 600 came the Slavs in the bled out Hellas and settled it. After the fall of Constantinopel around 1204, the frankish Crusaders came, than the Bulgarians, Serbs, Katalanians and on the End the Ottomans, which from 1450 came on the power. In between came the Albanian tribes in the sparsely populated rural regions of Thessaly, Boeotia and Peloponnese and settled there. And even the decisive battle of the Greek War of Independence, in which the British and French naval fleet in 1827 held the Sultan hostage, was held in one place, Navarino, which is named after a foreign nomad people, the Avars.
From there it went on with the liberation of Thessaloniki - then mostly inhabited by Turks, and Sephardic Jews - continued to the Asia Minor catastrophe of 1922 and the subsequent population exchange with Turkey, where the small nation had to take a half million Greeks abroad and integrate.
One in four Greeks today is descended from these newcomers, as many have Slavic or Albanian roots, but of course all stick together as thick as thieves when it comes to external enemies. And than the Turks - Revenge of Constantinople! - And when the Turks are not there to blame, the Germans are good target, because they have raged during the Second World War in the mother of the European Culture in a way that it still needs to be ashamed today.
