How Important is Religion with Macedonians?

My question to you is how important does religion play in Macedonian life?

I personally think all religions are shit and pointless and the world would be better without them. However as a Macedonian I respect and practice the Orthodox religion and to me that is enough. I go to church, I fast (sometimes) but all in all I prefer to view life from more realistic aspect.

Pork and alcohol are a way of life for most ethnic (muslim) Albanians. Since Islam was their free pass to avoid oppression, they embraced it more so than most in the Balkans. This advantage allowed them to carry firearms and steal from the indigenous people of the Balkans. This is why they are treated with extreme suspicion. O77 is a proven liar and hopefully not representative of all ethnic Albanians with connections to Macedonia.

Ahhhhh But God wants us to spread his word. " But he also says, "Do not give dogs what is sacred; Don't throw your
pearls to pigs! They will trample the pearls, then turn and attack you. ... : (Matthew 7:6)

This phrase could be also used against spreading the truth about Macedonia to the majority of Greeks evan though its not intended for that.

Regarding religion and priests, He does say,
"Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves. ..." (Matthew 7:15)

Well its important we have faith. We follow gods word. Not man made religion. Religion is the root of all evil, but don't mistake religion with God. Now there is a problem with defining what is religion. Many people have their personal favorite definition. But my Definition is " A way you worship" Church rules, customs, culture. Which is irelevant to what would make you a good servant of God. Just like that story about the Good samaritan on his way to church.

My answer to the question posed at the beginning of this thread by the idiot racist who was banned, is as follows: Orthodox Christianity is an important and fundamental part of Macedonian culture, it is ingrained in our customs and habits, but it does not require us to become religious zealots for the purpose of retaining our identity. It is but one component (albeit extremely important) in the shaping of the Macedonian people through the Middle Ages.

Even our Torbeshi were once Orthodox like the rest of us until a couple of centuries ago, which effectively means that this Macedonian group have had about 200 years or so of 'turbulent' Islamic adherence and about 1,800 years of a continued Christian heritage before that.

Communism totally destroyed macedonians and their spirituality. We are probably together with the bulgarians the least practicing of the orthodox peoples.
Sadly most people dont got no idea about the teachings of orthodoxy but see MPC as something they can use for their propaganda instead of seeing orthodoxy as a way of life.
