The opening of secret files in Serbia announced to happen by the end of the year will be delayed, so snitches can sleep peacefully for a while, Serbian media reported.
Serbian Security Information Agency (BIA) handed over to the Archives of Serbia 80,000 records, some of which have 1,000 pages, but according to the head of the parliamentary group of the SNS in the Serbian Parliament, Zoran Babic, Belgrade has more important work at the moment, Telgraf.mk reports.
Brussels stance on this issue is not adamant. The European Commission repeatedly said that Serbia is not required to disclose the secret files of the security services, but it is a "strongly recommended".
The Serbian Renewal Movement of Vuk Draskovic tried to take off the question mark which for 14 years is hovering over the files of collaborators of the secret services on three occasions in 2004, proposing legislation that would enable opening of the files.
As published by Serbian daily "Vesti", Macedonia has repeatedly raised the issue of the availability of the Yugoslav archives in Belgrade, where the files of individuals that were the greatest threat to national security remained.
Macedonian Commission for Verification of Facts says they have no information on any delay in the opening of the files in Serbia because they are not institution that negotiates so that our country can gain access to the archives in Belgrade.
