Macedonia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) summoned Thursday the ambassadors of Albania and Kosovo to the country.
They were presented with diplomatic note of protest regarding some of the official viewpoints and statements of both countries related to the violent protests organized in Macedonia immediately after the adoption of the first instance court order, which found six perpetrators of criminal act of terrorism guilty as charged and sentenced them to life imprisonment.
The ambassadors of both countries were told that positions and interpretations that question the functioning of the legal state and the judiciary as an independent power in the Republic of Macedonia – along with political assessments of high political representatives – do not contribute to nurturing constructive, positive, friendly and good-neighborly relations, MoFA said in a press release.
"These statements may be interpreted as interference in the internal affairs of the Republic of Macedonia and are not in line with strengthening of mutual trust and good-neighborly relations, which the Republic of Macedonia nurtures and puts honest efforts for in the bilateral relations with its neighbors," the press release reads.
The Ambassador of Kosovo was also presented with a note of protest that strongly condemns the vandal act of burning the Macedonian flag in front of the country's Embassy in Pristina on July 8 2014. This act deeply offended the dignity of the Republic of Macedonia.
At the same time, expectations were expressed that the authorized Kosovo officials would promptly take appropriate measures for finding and punishing the perpetrators.
