    We need translations of this document in both Macedonian and English.
    The translations with the original needs to be sent out to interested parties ASAP.

    Bravos Pande;
    "мора да се даде право на народ да се учи јазико"
    "mora da se dade pravo na narod da se uchi jaziko"
    "the right must be given to the people to learn the language"

    Bitola and my dever is only a baby.. 22 so maybe a bit young for this kind of stuff?

    Maybe they just werent expecting it to be as widespread as it was.

    Change must come from within oneself only then can real change occur.

    The Republic of Macedonia still has communism in its veins. It was the commie education system that discouraged any notion of a diaspora, let alone an accurate historical education! It was all about an inward looking socialist Yugoslavia. This heritage remains because noone has bothered to stand up. They're all looking back to "comfy" yugoslavia and even instilling a sense of fake nostalgia to a generation of young adults that were born after Macedonia left Yugoslavia.

    Many who should know better actually believe many Egejci are Greeks who learned the Macedonian language. We're not talking about remote villages. I've seen it with my own eyes. Often. A massive shock for us in the diaspora who know Macedonians from everywhere.

But it kind of makes sense that the government policy of both Greece and then Yugoslavia was to discourage people from going for fear of Macedonians discovering their brothers. WHo knows how many people bought into their lies
    I still can't believe this...although very little surprises me anymore.
    The one point I'd like to make is that I question how widespread this ignorance is.
    Like I said in a previous post, I think you'd have to be from some pretty backward village somewhere in the darkest corner of Macedonia to hold such a view.

    What of the multitude of villages along the 'border', are you suggesting those people don't know about the people over the other 'side'?
