Ohrid Airport Sveti Apostol Pavle declared open

TAV is currently pushing on having 1 million passengers a year in Ohrid within 10 years, it currently has 40,000 passengers.

The good news is that the Aleksandar Veliki Airport in Skopje is due to be opened on 8th of September (Independence Day) which is earlier then scheduled. The agreement is late October so this is good news for us.

МАКЕДОНИЈА во срце те носиме.

MAT flies to Amsterdam from Odrid in Summer.

Real potential for Ohrid to become a regional low cost airline hub.

Had a relo from Solun drive all the way to Sofia to take advantage of a cheap flight to Manchester.

The whole of occupied western Macedonia is a potential market for Ohrid.

With lower operating costs (and lower taxes???), it should obliterate Solun as a competitor.

Currently Ohrid has 40,000 passengers a year, within 10 years TAV is expecting 600,000 which is a respectable figure. Ohrid is an international airport, i just heard that Niki Lauda came to Skopje yesterday and he is promoting a flight Skopje-Vienna-Skopje for less then 100 euros on FlyNiki. Thats a pretty good deal

I haven't had the opportunity to land in Orhid before.. hopefully in future would like to go there instead of Skopje...tired of getting to Skopje then driving another 3hrs to Bitola...
The Macedonians originates it, the Bulgarians imitate it and the Greeks exploit it!

Wouldnt it be easier landing in Thessaloniki then using the new Egnatia expressway to Bitola ? Should save you some time unless there something I am missing.

Yes in theory it would be good...but I don't want to go thru the hassles and dealing with Racist Greeks...Sorry but it's true..
With my hot-headed temper these days I can be held there allot long then usual..
after experiencing it quite afew years back by getting dirty looks every time they saw my name from tickets and credit Cards and one fuk head at the border flicks my Australian passport at me..because he was unable to do anything about it and knowingly knew I was Macedonian..
I was only a young fella and didn't do anything about it..
And why would I want to support the Greek economy when they don't recognise my people..
So no going to Solun is not my first choice..

I dont know what you guys go through, espescially coming with an Australian passport. If its any comfort, every time I go to the USA I get the 3rd degree because they see Ive been away for a long time. Meanwhile I see Mexicans, Chinese, and all other walks of life going through. While me a Caucasian American gets held back. Anyway, go figure. In general I think they have to be pricks. Its their profession.

The driving distance from Thessaloniki, Greece to Bitola, Macedonia is:
133 miles / 214 km and I think its another 20 km extra from the airport.

The driving distance from Ohrid to Bitola is:
                      43 miles / 69 km

The driving distance from Skopje to Bitola is:
                      109 miles / 175 km

Ohrid is by far better bet for people from Bitola.

As if they know how Macedonian sounds like TLWR.
Nobody cares, they'd probably confuse it with some other language
Those are stories told on the internet. Doesnt happen. At least not in Athens

I remember going through solun years ago. They said the'll take oz passports. When i showed them the macedonian passport they said do you want us to rip it up.They are racist pigs & hate anything with mkd on it.A friend of mine had macedonian number plates & was told to take them out.
