The Bitola Clinical Center will soon become a regional hospital with top medical equipment, thus being able to compete with private clinics. A Euro 5.6 million state-of-the-art medical equipment has been provided by the Government and Health Ministry for the Bitola-based Clinical Center.
Vice PM and Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski and Minister of Health Bujar Osmani visited Thursday the Bitola Clinical Center in order to promote the equipment, which includes surgical instruments, magnetic resonance tomography (MRT), instruments for laser dissolution of kidney stones, 4D ultrasound for gynecology and cardiology, operating rooms, respirators, incubators and anaesthetic machines.
"The Government of Macedonia is implementing the project for procurement of medical equipment for all health care institutions in Macedonia in amount of over 70 million euros. As a result, the clinical hospital in Bitola was provided with an equipment worth 5.6 million euros," Vice PM Stavreski said, noting that such large-scale investments in the health care sector hadn't been seen in the past 15-20 years.
The investment, he added, marked the start of reviving the public health care, which includes reconstruction of public health institutions and engaging new and additional personnel.
"Government's goal is to improve health care services all over the country. Bitola is an important regional center, providing services to 100.000 citizens, which is why I expect the equipment to be put into use as soon as possible," said Stavreski.
