You probably got charged for roaming, if you used an Australian Sim Card in Macedonia.

The fact is Macedonia is very competitive now, an SMS from Stari Kraj to Australia is 5 denars with T-Mobile and i think 2 or 3 denars with the other carries. From Australia if you send an SMS from Telstra or Optus to Stari Kraj you pay 85c its a rip off and a half.

The only thing thats expensive from Stari Kraj is to call other countries but that will change soon.

i don't know what they are charging or how but when i was in macedonia in 2006 they were
charging both ways. The caller get's charged & the receiver as well. What a quick way to make a buck. When i see that they aren't ripping people off i'll beleive it.

Macedonian Electronic Communications Agency (AEK) has informed that company WTI Macedonia was the first to apply as a virtual mobile operator on the Macedonian market.

This means that the company has the right to use networks of other operators in Macedonia in order to provide services to Macedonian citizens.

For the purpose, the AEK allocated 100,000 numbers to WTI, which the company will be able to sell on its SIM cards. The Netherlands-based company will reportedly start operating in Macedonia in two to three months.
