Yet another. Not a massive nation, but numbers keep growing. Its at 132 now according to this report.

TUVALU RECOGNISES MACEDONIA UNDER ITS CONSTITUTIONAL NAME

Skopje, 30 June 2011 (MIA) - The Republic of Macedonia and the state of Tuvalu have established diplomatic relations under the constitutional name at ambassadorial level at the premises of the Macedonian Permanent Mission to the UN.

On Thursday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that Tuvalu is the 132nd country that has officially recognised Macedonia under its constitutional name.

The joint communiqué was signed by Macedonian ambassador Pajo Avirovic and his counterpart, MoFA says in a press release. Both countries will develop their ties in line with the principles of mutual respect, friendship, non-interference into internal affairs and recognition of the countries' territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Tuvalu, formerly known as the Ellice Islands, is a Polynesian island nation located in the Pacific Ocean, midway between Hawaii and Australia.

coz of some unknown reasons mr gruevski want to get into the EU and therefore we need the OK from "RoV"

Even though this list in not 100% correct what is alarming is that we could get so many of these countries down the bottom where we havnt even established diplomatic relations with these countries. Surly the very least we can do is establish diplomatic relations and cover them from near by neighboring countries and there are at least 5 countries there who would recognize us without hesitation once we established diplomatic relations.

On the contrary i dont see how a country like Romania which says here that they havnt recognized us when they have done even more then that they recognized a Macedonian Minority and where the first country in the Balkans to do that.

Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Czech Republic, Sweden, Finland, Slovakia, Norway, Latvia, Italy all recognized us at least in bilateral relations. It says that this list comes from the Macedonian MNR, it must have been pretty old if they gave it to them. I know that Pero Stojanovski just recently became Ambassador to New Zealand and he signed under our Name.

Japan,Iceland,Vatican/Holly Sea and Afghanistan are on the list of countries where its uncertain how they call us when we all know that they've officially recognized us. Japan recognized us in the 90s, well over 10 years ago.

Phoenix, France hasnt used its veto power in the UN for over 40 years, not since the mid 60s if i can recall. France has already signed an official bilateral document under our name, i can't see them sticking their necks out for Greece on this one.

Its fantastic, lets not forget that we established diplomatic relations with Bolivia in 1994 however the then foreign minister Denko Maleski did it under fyrom.

This is brilliant, well done to our diplomatic team this is fantastic.

I have. From what I can see, the French seem to take the power of veto quite seriously and use it very rarely (relative to veto use by other permanent SC member-states). I am of the view that it is very highly unlikely that the French will use their veto for an issue that is quite trivial for them and of little to no consequence to them, nor will their non-use of their veto power harm relations with Greece.
I don't share your confidence Rogi...
I can see France using the veto with the 'justification' that this issue is primarily a matter between Macedonia and Greece and the matter should be resolved within the current framework. Otherwise one could ask the question of why France never recognized Macedonia in the first place but supported the Greek position...

Much of Africa and the pacific will go the way of China. Time is just used to fill the space between one event to the other so that they do not appear to be related. 2 thirds is good and 3 quarters is better and then 2 fifths will come almost by itself.

Think of what it means to recognise RoM as Macedonia. It is a back flip on all the stories that underline the foundations of western history and order in the world. Macedonia is not just like some other country.

Further the recognition of RoM puts into serious question the status of the other parts of Macedonia…like one Greek said you might as well handover the keys and titles. Naturally there has been and is going to be resistance but the stars are aligning in the world such that bar major war the recognition of Macedonia is inevitable.

This was kept a secret for 2 months and we're already feeling the effects from the inside. A1 and SDSM have jumped down their throats, saying how we've signed diplomatic relations with a country thats lead by a dictator but why do we give a shit? Its only diplomatic relations for starters, like it was mentioned above we should establish diplomatic relations with every country in this world this is a major diplomatic victory for us and i think its a disgrace that the opposition is using it in order to gain cheap political points.

On the contrary, in 1995 when SDSM was in power lead by diplomat Viktor Gaber who was an Ambassador in Australia for 4 years signed diplomatic relations with North Korea, this is not a criticism by any means however they got no leg to stand on when it comes to accusations of forming diplomatic relations with countries under dictatorships.

Option 1: Greece offers more of a reason to tell countries who support Macedonia to cease supporting Macedonia.

Likelyhood: This requires money .... and Greece ain't got any.

No we still have to find something acceptable only to greece like a compromise on the name hopefully it is the beggars way to choose to join nato & eu.What a joke it is unheard of in the annals of history a country has allready compromised on it's flag now doing the same thing on its name. How weak is this ?,how stupid is it/You are letting us down by negotiating,You must stop it at once it is sheer madness. Why don't we use the power of influence now that we have widespread acceptance as SOM has said why just negotiate & capitulate.???????Come on Gruevski stop the BS & come clean before you are branded a traitor so stop hiding behind the rhetoric before it's too late.Hasn't macedonia suffered enough for you to do this. Why can't you be a real leader & stick up for your country & tell greece to fuck off for a change. Also why not get the rest of the world to tell greece off.We have waited long enough & our patience is thin.If you or anyone else let's us down we won't forget it.How about instead by being a real hero to the Macedonian people you acted like the real hero of Gotse Delchev & others & shown some real guts to tell greece off.Don't be a wimp.
