I agree. In fact, this is what has been happening for the past 30 years. Successive Macedonian governments have capitulated on one issue after another (FYROM, Interim Accord, Flag etc) without being able to appease Greece, but have idiotically persisted in maintaining in perpetuity the initial capitulation. On too many occasions already Zaev has publicly stated one thing only to do the exact opposite a short time later...he claims he is protecting the identity and language but unfortunately he has shown that he can’t be trusted with anything that he says...

Greek concern over constitutional proposals

The government of Macedonia submitted draft constitutional amendments to Parliament on Friday that would formally rename the country “North Macedonia” under the name deal signed with Greece, but Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos has reportedly expressed reservations about an article that hints at a Macedonian people.

Pavlopoulos reportedly objected to Article 36 which retains references to a Macedonian “people and identity” and the need to protect the Macedonian “people” living outside the country.

Pavlopoulos has insisted that Macedonia must make a written commitment that the name deal signed in June does not recognize a Macedonian nation but rather a citizenship.

Prime Minister Zoran Zaev presented the proposal at a press conference after a meeting of his cabinet and said there is nothing disputable in the four proposed amendments which, he said, are in compliance with international standards.

The first amendment proposes the replacement of the phrase “Republic of Macedonia” with “the Republic of North Macedonia” in the country’s constitution.

The second amendment proposes the addition of the Ohrid Framework Agreement of 2001 as the country’s constitutive element.

Moreover, in agreement with the Greek side, the constitution’s preamble will also include changes to the references made to the 1944 Anti-Fascist Assembly of the National Liberation of Macedonia (ASNOM) so that any wording deemed irredentist is removed.

The proposed third amendment includes a reference that Macedonia respects the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of neighboring countries.

The next plenary session of the Parliament to ratify the constitutional changes will take place on December 1.

A month later the third and final vote to ratify the constitutional review will take place, meaning the name deal will be ratified by Macedonia by mid-January at the latest.

НА УСТАВОТ НА РЕПУБЛИКА МАКЕДОНИЈА

Овие амандмани се составен дел на Уставот на Република Македонија и влегуваат во сила со денот на влегување во сила на Конечната спогодба за решавање на разликите опишани во резолуциите 817 (1993) и 845 (1993) на Советот за безбедност на Обединетите нации, за престанување на важноста на Привремената спогодба од 1995 г. и за воспоставување на стратешко партнерство меѓу страните и ратификацијата на Протоколот за членство во НАТО од страна на Република Грција



АМАНДМАН XXXIII

Во Уставот зборовите „Република Македонија“ се заменуваат со зборовите „Република Северна Македонија“, а зборот „Македонија“ се заменува со зборовите „Северна Македонија“, освен во член 36.



АМАНДМАН XXXIV

Во Преамбулата на Уставот на Република Македонија зборовите „одлуките на АСНОМ“ се заменуваат со зборовите „Прогласот од Првото заседание на АСНОМ до македонскиот народ за одржаното заседание на АСНОМ“, по зборот „година“ се додаваат зборовите „и на Охридскиот рамковен договор“, а се бришат зборовите „одлучија да“.



АМАНДМАН XXXV

Републиката го почитува суверенитетот, територијалниот интегритет и политичката независност на соседните држави.
Со точката 1 на овој амандман се дополнува членот 3.


АМАНДМАН XXXVI

Републиката го штити, гарантира и негува историското и културното наследство на македонскиот народ.
Републиката ги штити правата и интересите на своите државјани кои живеат или престојуваат во странство и ги унапредува нивните врски со татковината.
Републиката се грижи за припадниците на македонскиот народ кои живеат во странство.
Републиката притоа нема да се меша во суверените права на други држави и во нивните внатрешни работи.
Со овој амандман се заменува членот 49 од Уставот на Република Македонија.

Образложение на Амандман XXXIII

Целта на овие измени на Уставот е имплементација на Договорот со Грција со што треба да се овозможи пристапување на Република Македонија во Европската Унија и НАТО.

Притоа, согласно Конечната спогодба со Република Грција, се предвидува стапување во сила на амандманите со денот на ратификација на Спогодбата и Протоколот за пристапување во НАТО од страна на Парламентот на Република Грција. Следствено, во случај на невлегување во сила на овие два документи, нема да влезат во сила ниту предвидените амандмани.

Понатаму, во согласност со договорот, со уставен закон ќе биде утврдена примена на одредбата во однос на важноста на веќе постоечките документи и материјали издадени од органите на власт на Република Македонија.



Образложение на Амандман XXXIV

Целта на овие измени на Уставот е имплементација на Договорот со Грција со што треба да се овозможи пристапување на Република Македонија во Европската Унија и НАТО.

Заради усогласување на текстот на Преамбулата со Договорот со Грција, во Преамбулата се вршат соодветни измени. Во Преамбулата на Уставот на Република Македонија при наведувањето на државно-правните традиции, се именуваат конкретни документи на АСНОМ, односно се внесува Прогласот од Првото заседание на АСНОМ до македонскиот народ за одржаното заседание на АСНОМ. Исто така, во Преамбулата се споменува и Охридскиот рамковен договор, кој веќе е вграден со уставните амандмани од 2001 година.



Образложение на Амандман XXXV

Целта на овие измени на Уставот е имплементација на Договорот со Грција со што треба да се овозможи пристапување на Република Македонија во Европската Унија и НАТО.

Со Договорот се потврдува постоечката меѓусебна граница меѓу Република Македонија и Грција како трајна и неповредлива меѓународна граница, при што се презема обврска ниту една од двете држави да нема, ниту да поддржува никакви претензии кон кој било дел од територијата на другата држава, ниту пак претензии за промена на нивната меѓусебна постоечка граница. Покрај тоа, и Република Македонија и Грција се обврзаа дека нема да поддржуваат какви било претензии кои може да ги изнесат трети страни.

Република Македонија и Грција се обврзаа да го почитуваат суверенитетот, територијалниот интегритет и политичката независност на другата држава и да не поддржуваат какви било активности на трети страни насочени против суверенитетот, територијалниот интегритет или политичката независност на другата држава.
Исто така, двете држави презедоа обврска во согласност со целите и начелата на Повелбата на Обединетите нации, да се воздржуваат од закани или употреба на сила, вклучително од закани или употреба на сила со намера да се наруши нивната меѓусебна постоечка граница.

Во членот 3 од Уставот е регулирано дека територијата на Република Македонија е неделива и неотуѓива. Постојната граница на Република Македонија е неповредлива. Република Македонија нема територијални претензии кон соседните држави. Границата на Република Македонија може да се менува само во согласност со Уставот, а врз принципот на доброволност и во согласност со општо прифатените меѓународни норми.

Овој член веќе беше изменет во 1992 година со Амандманот I, кога беше додаден принципот на доброволност при промена на границата и согласноста со општо прифатените меѓународни норми. Исто така, со овој амандман беше декларирано дека Република Македонија нема територијални претензии кон соседните држави.

Со новиот уставен амандман кој се предлага се декларира почитување на суверенитетот, територијалниот интегритет и политичката независност на соседните држави.



Образложение на Амандман XXXVI

Целта на овие измени на Уставот е имплементација на Договорот со Грција со што треба да се овозможи пристапување на Република Македонија во Европската Унија и НАТО.

Согласно Договорот, Република Македонија и Грција се обврзаа ниту една одредба од Уставот, да не може или не треба да се толкува на начин кој претставува или кога било ќе претставува основа за мешање во внатрешните работи на другата држава, во каква било форма или заради каква било причина, вклучително и заради заштитата на статусот и првата на кои било лица кои не се нејзини граѓани.

Во членот 49 од Уставот е пропишано дека Републиката се грижи за положбата и правата на припадниците на македонскиот народ во соседните земји и за иселениците од Македонија, го помага нивниот културен развој и ги унапредува врските со нив. Републиката се грижи за културните, економските и социјалните права на граѓаните на Републиката во странство. Републиката притоа нема да се меша во суверените права на други држави и во нивните внатрешни работи.

И овој член беше изменет со Амандманот II во 1992 година кој предвидуваше дека Републиката нема да се меша во суверените права на други држави и во нивните внатрешни работи.

Со уставниот амандман кој се предлага се потенцира обврската на Република Македонија за заштита, гарантирање и негување на историското и културното наследство на македонскиот народ. Исто така, со амандманот се гарантира заштита на правата и интересите на државјаните кои живеат или престојуваат во странство и унапредување на нивните врски со татковината. Во амандманот е пропишано дека Републиката се грижи и за припадниците на македонскиот народ кои живеат во странство, без тоа да значи мешање во суверените права на други држави и во нивните внатрешни работи.

I agree, with the prespa deal Macedonia is Greek and Northern Macedonia is just a binational country made up of Slav Macedonians and Albanians not related to the Ancient Macedonians.

To further highlight the insanity of the deal, for labelling purposes Greek businesses in Egejska Macedonia get first preference to name their products Made in Macedonia.

The honourable thing to do would be to close the place down, it has no soul or meaning.

Although, I have to say, it kind of becomes redundant now I feel, with the other Macedonia having accepted the name change and all. The whole "Macedonia is Greek" thing is starting to lose its magic now with the new nation of North Macedonia having just emerged as the other, non-Alexander, nondescript, European Macedonia of the north. To constantly re-emphasise the obvious all the time that Macedonia is Greek is kind of like the Chinese having to re-emphasise the obvious that "Tibet is China" or the Spanish having to re-emphasise the obvious that "Catalonia is Spain".

One day, sometime in the near future, Shekerinska and the other traitors will wake-up to the fact that they traded the name, identity and history for nothing...the greeks will continue with their perpetual nonsense, racism and disrespect for their northern neighbour, with every likelihood that the North still sits begging cap in hand at the gates of NATO and the EU - the greeks will be looking to extract further concessions from a generation of bought fools that have proven that they have neither integrity nor dignity...the greeks have broken the three decades long impasse in this dispute, from here on it's simply about how much money they are prepared to spend to get the perfect deal...

Вака вицепремиерката и министер за одбрана Радмила Шекеринска ги коментира скандирањата на учесниците во воената парада во Солун, кои со извици “Македонија е Грчка”, го одбележаа денот на борбата против фашизмот во присуство на грчкиот претседател и министер за одбрана, како и шефот на италијанската држава.

Its happening one way or another. If DUI says that they will not seek additional pro Albanian changes now, its only because its already been promised to them at a later date. Either that, or they say one thing publicly and then when it comes time to vote, they will put pressure on Zaev in private.

Agreed -- which is why I said it won't happen (for now). It will probably be on the agenda in the near future.
