SKOPJE, Macedonia -- Greek Ambassador to Macedonia Alexandra Papadopopopoulousos on Monday (April 5th) was summoned to the Macedonian Foreign Ministry where Deputy Foreign Minister Zoran Petrov demanded a formal apology. Ms Papadopopopoulousos stated that the incident was a 'misunderstanding', and that the sign actually indicated a rejection of the insulting term 'Skopia.' She further implored the Macedonian Government not to exaggerate the incident. "[This position] should be condemned and it is being condemned. It doesn't represent the people of Greece, its position and mentality," Papadopoulou told reporters after the meeting.

I tend to agree with your assesments above but can't help going back to the old adage " Your'e either part of the problem or part of the solution", and when you apply the formula to Karamanlis it appears from the onset that he became part of the problem for possible political gain, instead of tackling what he inherited- head on, your thoughts?

I dont absolve Karamanlis from all this. Everything and everyone that led up to this problem the last 20-30 years played their part. I just think some did more than others.
To be honest, I feel Karamanlis did the 'honourable' thing in actually telling the people what was coming, as most greek politicians would have swept that under the carpet in the face of an election. He definitely could have done more though, I agree with you there.
I think that his insistance on further strengthening the military was one of his downfalls. I am of the opinion that a strong military is a good thing, but he put too many eggs in that basket, and left others empty.

It is a travesty, they insult us by entering into negotiations to take away our identity and our beautiful macedonian name, There are more Macedonians in the diaspora then in the Republic of Macedonia, and they are selling our very right to call ourselves Macedonian and play into the Greeks bullshit, our culture and our existence.

I would also like to know what is happening and where are all the intellegent Greeks and why do they still put up with this shit? How ridiculous and hypocritical is the statement of M. Chrysochoidis evidenced by the fact that the same man who a few months before the forum of the House told us that we are surrounded by very bad neighbors and they should be careful. The subordinates, then, all they did was to resume in plain words that his statement to the understanding that everyone, within and across borders.

The ambassadors of our country in the Republic of Macedonia and Albania were talking about an isolated incident that should not be exaggerated. While, however, our ambassador in Tirana and asked forgiveness from the Albanian people, this is not done by his colleagues in Skopje. Another proof of how Greece is aware of the good neighborly relations and how friendly people Makedoniko.

Worst of all, however, is that these behaviors motivated and principal beneficiaries of people living at home. The official modern Greek state, through the political elites who prey location by the armed forces, police and the para threatens openly and without shame Greek citizens home Macedonians and Albanians immigrants. Yep very true, i agree with what you and Franky are saying.

It seems like every few months the "greeks" (and some times the bulgarian slavs) like to say something racist or do something racist towards the macedonian state and people, yet the government has done NOTHING! Its like they are too scared to stand up against Grease.

Outside the macedonian people, i doubt any one would know of this news, or the other litle racist things these bastards have done to our people.

Notice when we are dealing with Grease they always bring up things like the statue of Alexander the Great or renaming the skopje airport, and put a "bad spin" on it so the idiots in the EU believe them and take greases side. And the most ironic thing is, these very same Greeks keeps questioning us in EU parliament for the rights of non-muslim people in Turkey. Not a single Jew or Jewish property has been damaged in Turkey, even after Israel killed 9 Turkish citizens. I wonder what would happen in Greece if Israeli soldiers would kill 9 Greeks? Then they would burn Jews alive as well as their Torah???
