Venezuela: Revolution is in the air

Just finished a meeting with a Venezuelan client. He updated me with the turmoil in his homeland. The country should be prospering and yet people cannot even find food or medicine.

It was interesting to hear that the protesting is largely coming from Uni students and younger. These are kids and young adults who have lived under nothing else than this regime of corruption. They started with fire crackers and now are using bombs against the National Guard. The National Guard (as opposed to the army) are lately being imported from places such as Cuba. The locals who were working in the National Guard do not want to reprimand their own people with their very real and reasonable grievances.

A slogan growing in popularity ( “Liberty. Article 350” ) makes reference to article 350 of their constitution:

The people of Venezuela, faithful to their republican tradition, its struggle for independence, peace and freedom, shall disown any regime, legislation or authority that runs counters to democratic values, principles and guarantees, or that undermines human rights.
The country is in complete chaos and it is so sad to see the people suffering. Revolution is in the air over there and it will be interesting times ahead. Keep an eye on it!

And meanwhile in Macedonia, Macedonians still think that getting in the EU will solve their problems.
