Bill, its not a matter of accepting what you would like to call yourself.

Voltron, its not a case of what i want to be called. I am what i am "Macedonian" regardless if i like it or not. Yes sometimes i feel its a curse being Macedonian, but i have to live with that. But majority of the times i feel its a privilege being one. As certain as i am a Macedonian, its a bigger certainty that these facts are a bigger curse for many of you Greeks, that i am a Macedonian, and you guys will also have to live with this. I am sorry..... but i have no choice in what i am. Blame it on all my ancestors who were born on Macedonian land. who have walked on Macedonian land, breathed Macedonian air, felt being nothing but Macedonians, who eventually were buried on Macedonian land. I along with my ancestors know/knew no other land to be ours.

But your right, on an everyday basis when life is not revolving around people and events 2000 years ago. Everything is usually fine.

I wouldn't be able to trace back my immediate ancestors 2000 years ago.

But here is another certainty and fact. I would be able to trace my ancestors who lived and breathed in Macedonia further back than any Greek walking on this planet can.

Which is why we want Macedonia for the Macedonians. We know no other. Where as for you lot, Its Macedonia for Greece. For us, we glorify Macedonia. Where you guys want it for the glory of Greece.

This is the threshold when things can get ugly. But your right, on an everyday basis when life is not revolving around people and events 2000 years ago. Everything is usually fine.

For the record, i personally know more decent Greeks that have no issue calling me Macedonian, than racist ones that do have issues.

Just because we don't see many of these decent types coming on this forum, it does not mean they are not out there. It just means they have no issues, no agenda's, nothing to dispute, therefore nothing to say. Unlike these racist, ultra nationalists that frequent here who do not have anything better to do than to hate and deny us.

But then again these modern greeks set the bar pretty low and don't adhere to a very high standard.

I can understand why they act like spoilt children. Their forefathers ( 1.4 million) were given food clothing and shelter to start their lives in New Greace.

Are all Greeks living in Greece like La Bira?

I've rarely seen any significant number of 'greeks' who are different from the turd, La Bira.

Normality in any society is a matter of relativity and in greece the bar is set very low, the norm is the demented form of racism and fascism of La Bira.

Where are the 'greeks' who stand up against such blatant racism and extreme chauvinism...who was the last 'greek' to come onto this forum who respected a Macedonians identity and self determination.?

In Greece, we never call it Macedonia, or Republic of Macedonia, or Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia. The latter is used only in an official manner in public circumstances (by politicians, anchormen etc) but it’s way too long.
In everyday conversations most Greeks will call it Skopje or FYROM. Personally, my natural tendency is rather to call it Skopje.
If a politician or commentator is against Greece’s policy on the name dispute will probably use emphasis and call it Republic of Macedonia.

A note to our administrators
Thessa/la bira whatever had been on this forum countless times, and been banned a dozen times.

In amongst all that rubbish, he is saying he never calls it Macedonia. I am yet to believe typical Greek participation on this forum ever amounts to anything useful.

We ain't seen nothing yet. The real policy (for all interested parties, people and political leaders in both sides) will show when the final compromise is made. I'm not sure about my personal stance then.

Oh, were you coming from Skopje?

I basicaly... live in Macedonia, about 350 days a year, so... I can't really visit it, only exit it. Yes, I have visited Skopje, also Monastir and Struga. I haven't counted how many times I say Macedonia.
