Greece Fears Returning Land and Homes to Macedonians

Writer Smilevski: Greece Fears Returning Land and Homes to Macedonians
    Tuesday, 01 November 2011

Macedonian writer Goce Smilevski caused a world wide tsunami with his book "The Sister of Sigmund Freud" winning numerous internationally acclaimed awards, including the top EU literature award. World's largest publishing company, NY based "Pinguin" have already bought the rights translating the book in 25 languages.

Smilevski is currently in Italy where he drew the attention of all major Italian newspapers including but not limited to L'espresso, La Republica, Il Sole 24 Ore, Corriere Della Sera, and Vatican based L'Oservatore.
In an interview entitled "The Revelation from Macedonia" for Italy's largest newspaper Corriere Della Sera, Smilevski was also asked about the bizarre dispute with Greece. He had this to say: "Greece's problem is the fact that in 1948 they forced out of their homes around 300,000 Macedonians and confiscated their houses and land.
Greece never had an issue with our name, they fear they will have to return all land and properties back if Macedonia enters the EU."
Italian media described his book as the best thing to come out of Europe in a long time and compared his writing style to Jose Caramago.
The Macedonians originates it, the Bulgarians imitate it and the Greeks exploit it!

that's been it for a long time as it tries to deny macedonian existence. They do have to give back ancestral lands to the macedonians.
"Ido not want an uprising of people that would leave me at the first failure, I want revolution with citizens able to bear all the temptations to a prolonged struggle, what, because of the fierce political conditions, will be our guide or cattle to the slaughterhouse"

On Delchev's sarcophagus you can read the following inscription: "We swear the future generations to bury these sacred bones in the capital of Independent Macedonia. August 1923 Illinden"

..very true, can't wait for the punishment of those crimes and the reparations (although it will be hard to get any Euros out of the bankrupt neighbours).

I don't quite see how joining the EU would result in Greece having to return the property and homes of expelled Macedonians. EU couldn't care less about the atrocities conducted at the hands of the Greeks.

Sounds like a good read though, well done to him.

            Goce Smilevski

            Novel, Macedonian, 292 p.

Winner of the Eureopean Prize for literature 2010, the novel is to be published in more than 15 countries

            The novel
Was Sigmund Freud partially guilty for the death of his sisters in a death camp? That question arises at the very beginning of the novel Sigmund Freud’s Sister : the year 1938, Nazi Germany have just occupied Austria, and doctor Freud is allowed to make a list of people that will be able to leave Vienna and move with him to London. Freud wrote sixteen names on the list, including his maids, his wife’s sister, his doctor and his family. But on the list of the people whose lives should be saved, the names of his sisters, his doctor and his family. But on the list of the people whose lives should be saved, the names of his sisters Adolfina, Paulina, Marie and Rosa were not included. The novel begins with the departure of Sigmund Freud, while his sisters are deported to a concentration camp. There Adolfina Freud becomes friend to Ottla Kafka, who is suffering from amnesia, and one of the few things she can remember from the past is the name of her brother Franz. Deprived of her own
memory, Ottla asks Adolfina to share the story of her family, and thus on the pages of this novel revives Vienna of late 19th and early 20th Century, and the life of Sigmund Freud and his sisters.

Its part of the pavements of gold myth.
If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

Yes, this is nonsense. You don't have to be an EU member to do that. Greece is a member of European court of human rights. All you have to do is; providing your proof of land registry and apply to a local Greek court. When the case is over in Greece, go to the EU court of human rights in Brussels. When someone wins the case in Brussels, it will be an example for the other similar cases and the verdicts for the following cases will be issued quickly.

Greek Cypriots does that for their homes in the northern side for years and they took millions of euros from us because Turkey is a member of EU court of human rights.

If you Aegean Macedonians have some kind of proof for your properties, i don't see any reason to not apply to the EU courts. Just prove that these territories belonged to you or your family members b4 civil war, and you surely get the lands or Greek government pays you compensation fees.
