As is often quoted, 'Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.'
The two concepts of power and corruption have always gone hand in hand. The sad thing is that their rise to power may be fueled on a belief of helping their people and ultimately using their heightened influence for the good of others. Yet, once an individual truly realises the power they wield, that is the pivotal point where abuse and corruption come into play.
The Macedonian government and official departments, such as the police and army, are key examples of these words coming to life. I don't think that one individual can make a whole lot of a difference solely; however a collective and united group based on common principles and values, can most certainly project a realistic and positive outcome.
Good on you for showing legitimate concern though.
whatever

Isn't the Macedonian army fairly corrupt? All the generals I know are quite wealthy and have a lot of stolen land in Macedonia.

how crazy it is vojnik.Maybe if boskovski wasn't a traitor & started a movement it might have had a chance but that's just wishfull thinking. If there was something like Arkan that people could join but there is no fighting. Also the macedonian govt has gone too far & let the army fall in numbers & then how do you fight when the enemy is right next to you & could literally shoot you in the back. How ridiculous it is that the minister of the defence of ARM was a terrorist commander in 2001.I wonder what his allegiances are now. There is just to many absurd things that have happened in macedonia.I think if there is to be a revolution it must not involve the govt as it is a pacifist & capitulatist to boot.THe problem of not having solid ideologies developed within the people whether the govt or the people themselves there aren't any.

This is the problem in order to help Macedonia in my opinion you need to establish solid ideology relating to Macedonia. You need to get yourself deep in all the political mess and hope to God nothing happens to you. My fear is that if somewhere does get so induced in the Macedonian problem and their actions start to create another national awakening then that person will become a target quickly. You need to be persistent and fear nobody and expect anything to happen at anytime. You need to go to Macedonia and create ties with people that think alike and generate a movement. The people of Macedonia need something big to awake them from this deep sleep.

precisely vojnik you should know being a vojnik. He want's to join, whats little left of it.The macedonian army needs to be built up.It's true the destroyed it but there is no harm in building it up.But you have to watch your back as you have albanians as well.

What army are we talking about? lol. Macedonia's defense can barely be classified as an army. It is a special unit of police where out of a hundred that trial only 10 are selected to join the wolves. Then there is a rule where a certain number need to be Albanian I think correct if I am wrong but I believe that is the case. Our army was destroyed a long time ago by NATO who would only let us join if we had no proper army.

All the more for a revolt by the army & eventual revolt by the people. At the moment the people are put to sleep by the speeches but the army is allways the army if it's compromised then it can't act properly all the more for a dissatisfaction which can lead to a revolt. The army is question of time when it sees the govt mishandling things or even suggesting it do something in the abnormal way.I think people joining the army will see first hand what is really going on first hand. They will appreciate what is happening.Whils't macedonias case & behaviour is kind of very off.It could be ripening itself for all sorts of happenings. In 2001 i would say the politicians compromised to the albanians & the army put up with it but for how long.I suppose it has to be in the good interest of the people. But then again there is a high price to pay at the cost of sovereignity.

In a sovereign nation you would be correct DtG. That is simply not the case here. The army is compromised, as is the nation.Originally posted by Daniel the Great View PostI think the Army itself and the purpose of it is much bigger then the government and who ever the minister is. At the end of the day the soldiers are there to defend the nation, and you can not do any better then that for Macedonia.

JUst because the minister of defence is albanian doesn't mean all is lost. It's really undesirable but there is nothing that the govt can do their hands are tied unless they change the constitution. If this minister of defence doesn't do his duty like a normal macedonian the macedonian army will rebel & resent him. We have seen statements by ahmeti leader of dui that he will not be protecting macedonia if there is fighting in kosovo.I'm sure the soldiers would not be happy to hear that.I have spoken to ex soldiers & ex wolves of 2001.They are not happy with what;'s going on but they realize the govt is sucked into it by capitulating.THe thing that got me with the army people & ex wolves is they stood for the cause & are really sensitive to what's going on.Can people imagine being told not to fire back at the terrorist rebels..Also they get seats in parliament & pensions etc.So if the army is not happy they could protest. They are there to protect the people & macedonian way of life.Last edited by George S.; 10-03-2011, 05:07 PM.

Daniel you are right macedonian soldiers can do something more in interest of macedonia. If they see things that aren't to their liking well the army can revolt. He will be there to keep an eye on things. He won't be the only one.In one way ke sluzi for the macedonian cause.Stop reading too much into it.If he joins the army & eventually the special forces it will be good for him.I'm sure that there are a lot of soldiers in uniform who share his view.Last edited by George S.; 10-03-2011, 05:05 PM.

join the army & then the special forces. That would be logical.
Dob't listen to those people telling you to study & get credentials.People who do that are called politicians. At this time the army would need dedicated people & you can go higher as in special forces.
