    Macedonia Travel

Some of my friends (non Macedonian) are really keen to visit Macedonia this year and have me show them around as part of a euro holiday. They're hoping to spend a week in MK, and i'm thinking that i'll base us in Ohrid given that the infrastructure and tourist environment is there, in addition to historical sightseeing.

Does anyone have any information about trustworthy airlines that use skopje as a base? From what i understand there have been dramas lately regarding the national carriers etc. and i'd hate for this first experience to be negative. I was going to get them to come to MK via Vienna, and then fly to Istanbul or Izmir from Skopje.

    Any recommendations?

I'm hoping that by taking them over they go on to tell other people they work with, are friends with etc.. and begin word of mouth spreading.

I'd stay away from the MK carriers. Far from reliable or business orientated at the least.

From Vienna take Austrian or any well known airline. I'd suggest some ex-yu airlines as well, Monetengro Airlines serve SKP quite well through their base in Podgorica.

Just be sure not to fly with the home grown airlines. Not sure even if they appear in the booking systems in Australia, so i doubt you would even end up with them.

Thanks Blagojce. It's such a shame that MK isn't on any of the cheap airline routes yet.
