    Patele

A proud Macedonian village in Lerin. Who knows more about it?
From the village of Ppezhani, Tashko Popov, Dimitar Popov-Skenderov and Todor Trpenov were beaten and sentenced to 12 years prison. Pavle Mevchev and Atanas Popov from Vrbeni and Boreshnica joined them in early 1927, they were soon after transferred to Kozhani and executed. As they were leaving Lerin they were heard to shout "With our death, Macedonia will not be lost. Our blood will run, but other Macedonians will rise from it"

Here is a song about Marko Lerinski who died in Patele. The Bulgarians have hijacked this and given it their pro-Bulgar twist. It is a Macedonian song sung in the region... Enjoy!

Nice song, I have heard that it is a very pro-Macedonian village. Are there more YouTube videos in relation to this village?

Does Patele have a yearly Panayir as Ovcharani has? Can anyone confirm this?

Patele is located on the western edge of the Ostrovsko ezero in Aegean Macedonia. Population of 1,110 all of whom are ethnic Macedonians. There is surprisingly a lot of information on the internet about the village.

Good on them and thanks for the clip Mikail.

Patele's name was changed in Aug 1926 inorder to Hellenize the area and eliminate any evidance of Macedonian history existing (obviously the above video shows it has not succeeded). Just like they renamed everything else, such as names of villages, peoples names, rivers, etc. Greece went evan as far as changing the names on tomb stones or removed them all together.

Below is information i found from records kept in Greece.

Name of Community or Municipality: Agios Panteleimon
                        Code of settlement: 63110501
                        Old name: Pateli
                        Date of renaming: 31/8/1926
                        Official Journal: 346/1926
                        New name: Agios Panteleimon

Good information Bill, why rename something that has 'always been' Greek?

It is overwhelmingly predominantly Macedonian, and a proud Macedonian village at that; and they hold a great Macedonian 'panagir'.
