I am a little perplexed with Ristovski, I have not seen everything he has written, but he has produced some good information and analytical work in the past, I would have expected better from him.

What exactly in the clip gives you the impression that he is a blabbering old fool?

Can't pinpoint it to one particular clip, but it's just his general demeanour and the way he describes things. Reminds me of an old man telling embellished war stories and not a leading academic.

MANU was always an accident just waiting to happen, they should be reformed completely.

SOM, Spolaj Ti for the question

I think he is long overdue for Penzija

Keep in mind that these so called Academics learned their trade in Yugoslavia, they were brainwashed by the Yugoslav education System so dont expect them to be protecting our name, identity, culture etc

The age of 64 is when you have to retire, these guys are over 68 they should have been gone years ago. There is no fresh blood in there, i have always stated this.

It is interesting how both modern Macedonians and modern Greeks define themselves.

The modern Greeks define themselves based on the language and culture they adopted, looked up to and wanted to become. That is, they moulded themselves into what they wanted to be based on an idea painted by modern historians, regardless of where they come from.

Whereas, the modern Macedonians have taken the organic approach in saying. Look, we are a product of several layers of history, and perhaps the Macedonians of today are different to the Macedonians of the past, but we won't be pretending to be carbon copies of the Macedonian people as they existed in an ancient kingdom several millennia ago. Cultural evolution is a natural process and today we're one of many nations that is a result of cultural evolution. It is nice to look back and discover some historical connections, but it's not what our existence hinges on.

Of the two approaches, the Macedonian one is much more natural and easier to maintain. The Greek one requires high maintenance and constant reassurances and protection of the information that may harm such identification. It also involves constantly looking back and encroaching on other people's (Macedonian) identity based on nothing more than a particular version of history.
