Between the EU-obsessed Northdonians and, now, the growing scourge of Bugarofilstvo, I'm starting to wonder if there are any real Macedonians left in that place anymore. One thing I have stopped wondering about, however, is why we are so damned as a nation. The answer is as clear as day it seems.

My father says his father (my dedo) always spoke about how the biggest enemies of Macedonia are the Macedonians, specifically the "predavnici". I guess things haven't changed.

Any one feel like defending Dimitrov?

Karakacanov reminds Dimitrov that Bulgaria’s patients is exhausted, calls him a “son of a good Bulgarian”

Bulgarian nationalist Defense Minister Krasimir Karakacanov issued another warning to Macedonian politicians that they must agree to the concessions on national identity issues that Bulgaria requires. Karakacanov especially singled out Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov, calling him “the son of a good Bulgarian”.

"The patience of Bulgaria is being exhausted. I said that a number of times to Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, to Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov, whose father is a good Bulgarian. I known him, I’ve come to his home when he was just a boy," Karakacanov said.

Dimitrov’s father Dimitar Dimitrov was a member of Parliament and Education and Culture Minister early in the Macedonian independence as well as Ambassador to Russia. A refugee from Aegean Macedonia, Dimitar Dimitrov would call for a revision of the Yugoslav and socialist influenced Macedonian history. Because of this, socialist commentators and politicians would often accuse Dimitar Dimitrov of pro-Bulgarian sentiments, and would pin this allegation on the VMRO-DPMNE party, which Dimitrov belonged to.

The family has since switched over to the socialist SDSM party and Nikola Dimitrov was instrumental in signing the treaties with Bulgaria and Greece, under which these two countries claim chunks of Macedonian history and redefine the Macedonian nation. In the 1990-ies, as the “name issue” with Greece was heating up, Dimitar Dimitrov famously cursed whoever signs off the name Macedonia to Greece, not knowing that in 2018 it will be his son who will do it.

The absolute nerve of Karakachanov, why even bother with diplomacy?
I know of two tragic histories in the world- that of Ireland, and that of Macedonia. Both of them have been deprived and tormented.

Days after predicting the unification of Macedonia and Bulgaria, Karakacanov calls for a joint monument to Goce Delcev in Greece

On the anniversary of the death of Goce Delcev, Bulgarian nationalist Defense Minister Krasimir Karakacanov raised the idea that Macedonia and Bulgaria jointly ask that a monument to the legendary VMRO leader is built in the now destroyed village of Banica. Delcev was killed on this day, in 1903, fighting against a Turkish ambush, in the village near the city of Ser, that was captured by Greece in 1912.

"While we argue who Delcev belongs to, his original grave lies neglected behind the altar in the church of the destroyed village of Banica. Is it not time that we, as brotherly nations, raise the issue before our partner Greece to erect a monument to Goce Delcev there and to honor him, together? Maybe in the ruins of the village of Banica, where the spirit of Goce Delcev lives on, we will find the peace and enlightenment he had", Karakacanov said.

The Minister also asked why the two countries are not honoring Delcev this year, jointly, adding that “he hopes it was due to the coronavirus epidemic” and not due to reservations on the Macedonian side. The dispute over Goce Delcev is growing again, as Bulgaria announced it will condition the opening of EU accession talks for Macedonia, unless more concessions are given by Macedonia, in accordance with the 2017 Zaev – Borisov treaty. One of the concessions, which Bulgaria insists on most strongly, is that the Macedonian members delegated to a joint committee of historians agree that Goce Delcev was ethnically a Bulgarian. The other main concessions regards the language – Macedonia is asked to give up the idea of having the Macedonian language, which Bulgaria doesn’t recognize as separate from the Bulgarian, used as an official language in the European Union. An attempt by Macedonian President Stevo Pendarovski to assume a more hawkish position as he stated that, if the Bulgarian conditions remain, Macedonia may give up on its EU prospects, was also denounced by Karakacanov in his lengthy comment today. Karakacanov warned Pendarovski that the “Slavic population” in Macedonia faces becoming a minority against the Albanians and, in a comment made several days ago, predicted the coming unification of Macedonia and Bulgaria.

"Not only were one nation, we still are one nation, albeit forcibly divided. I also believe that the day is not far when we are together again, and where waters have flown before, they will flow again", Karakacanov said in his earlier comment.

Gruevski: You’re naive if you think that the Bulgarian demands will end with the Macedonian language and history

Macedonia resembles a village with no guard dogs, and it’s natural that this will encourage propaganda from other countries, said former Prime Minister and VMRO leader Nikola Gruevski, in his remarks regarding the latest dispute with Bulgaria. Tensions have risen between Macedonia and Bulgaria after the larger country announced it will block Macedonia from opening EU accession talks unless Macedonian historians agree to declare legendary VMRO leader Goce Delcev to have been a Bulgarian. Gruevski published his comments on May 4, the anniversary of Delcev’s death in 1903.

"Goce Delcev is as current today as he was in his day, not as much because of the attempts by our eastern neighbor to claim him and the entirety of Macedonia’s contemporary history until 1944 as its own, but for the incredible intrusion of foreign propaganda that the Macedonia authorities allowed into the country with the treaty signed with Bulgaria. Anyone who read his history can easily notice similarities from the nationalist Balkan propagandas in the 19th and 20th century aimed at Macedonia (from Greece, Serbia, Bulgaria and others) and what is being done now on the part of our neighbors, seriously assisted by domestic collaborators", Gruevski, who was the leading opponent of Zoran Zaev’s series of concessions to neighboring countries and a major proponent of having an sovereignist Macedonian policy, wrote from his political exile in Budapest.

Nikola Gruevski writes that Greece seemingly finished her job in Macedonia and achieved its goals, but that now Bulgaria launches its own campaign that is in full swing. “And seeing how easy it is, with resistance restricted to individuals, and no organized response, Bulgaria is pushing to get more out of this opportunity while Macedonia resembles the time under occupation, with no state, institutions or allies”. Gruevski warns that, while Bulgaria currently demands concessions with regard to the Macedonian language and history, it won’t stop there.

"If you think it ends there, you’re naive or misinformed. Even top level officials from our eastern neighbor are coming open with their demands. One of them observes that the day is not far when we will be together again, and that “where waters flowed, they will flow again", Gruevski writes citing a recent statement from Bulgarian Defense Minister Krasimir Karakacanov.

Karakacanov praised comments from a former Yugoslavist Macedonian politician Denko Maleski, who accepted Bulgaria’s positions, and then strongly condemned Gruevski for his opposition to this process of national unification.

"I have the impression that politicians in Bulgaria are eager to pursue these ideas to win more nationalist votes, but also to accomplish their goal, as they see Macedonia as weakened, unprotected, with a Government that is quick to make concessions, and they are far better placed being an EU member state. I find very logical the observations that Bulgaria acts this way only toward us, but not toward Greece, which also holds part of the geographic region of Macedonia. They have no activities or pretensions there. They don’t even push against Serbia, which holds their so-called Western provinces. Bulgaria doesn’t claim minority rights for Bulgarians in Serbia, aren’t Dimitrovgrad, Bosilegrad also part of the San-Stefano Bulgaria (Greater Bulgaria)? Why don’t Bulgarian historians pressure Serbia? It’s simple, they found Macedonia as a village with no guard dogs and they are pushing against us", Gruevski writes.

Mickoski now pretending to be a patriot after failing to adequately stand against Zaev's treachery earlier.

30.06.2020 - During Tuesday’s TV duel with Zoran Zaev on TV2, VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski said that unlike Zaev, he would never negotiate what Goce Delcev was or give up the Macedonian language. I will never accept to negotiate what Goce Delcev was or whether my mother tongue was or not Macedonian from 1945 onward, Mickoski said at the TV duel. Mickoski says that on the basis of the name Macedonia and on the basis of Goce Delcev we have created a state, and criticized Zaev that with the Agreement with Bulgaria he signed what no one dared to sign. That is why with the renewal we must correct such capitulations made by Zoran Zaev, said Mickoski.

30.06.2020 - Hristijan Mickoski, the leader of VMRO-DPMNE, asked Zaev at Tuesday’s debate on TV 24 if he would say in front of the Macedonian public that he would give up Goce Delcev, to which Zaev refused to answer. Referring to the foreign affairs policy, Mickoski said that the situation is chaotic, because at the moment the country is negotiating about the Macedonian language and the heroes of our history. We cannot accept these two things that are happening at the moment, we cannot negotiate about Goce Delcev, why Mr. Zaev at last two leaders’ meetings did not ask for a declaration to be passed in the parliament that we will all support. Mickoski stated that he requested that a declaration is passed in Parliament and that it should not be a party issue, but Zaev said no, it won’t happen.

"Mochkoski" - I will never negotiate or accept giving up Goce Delchev or our language" but if someone else does it, we will just have to get use to it and it will become the new reality just like when the name was changed.

Seconded VMRO, I do not understand how people are still portraying these idiots as the saviours of Macedonia; do they intentionally ignore their treacherous acts? The common trend right now seems to be that a vote for DPMNE is a vote for the unification of Macedonia!
